Jovanotti Buon Sangue

I like the single; it’s a bit unsettling... I like him a little less, but I grant him the effort to want to be credible. After all, in an interview he gave to German television (he's currently in Germany on tour), he himself made a clever remark about himself: his problem is that he always tries to please everyone. A hit to the barrel and one to the bucket, in short. He specified, of course (ehehehe) that it’s a genetic problem, all Italian, a "national" flaw, saying that "we Italians are made that way." And then these people complain about the prejudices Europeans have about Italians. Please, make him shut up! Anyway, as far as he’s concerned, he's right. If Jova could shake off this compulsion to please everyone, maybe he could produce more incisive work. Then we would need some collaboration with real guts (so NOT like Zucchero, to clarify), with some "underground" American mixer who really knows how to break boundaries, not the Planet Funk; they’re good, sure, but nothing special.

I have it, bought it second-hand (someone used the cover as an ashtray) but I've never listened to it. Should I? I listen to it and then I say what I think off the cuff? Tonight.

Wow, I absolutely want to meet them! Awesome! He is so COOL! He looks like a typical researcher from Hoffmann-Laroche (on acid). Great report Daniele, you really captured the idea!

Nice review, which perfectly conveys the idea. I will look for it, since I like Donovan, but I prefer the bittersweet... :)
Jean Michel Jarre Equinoxe

I recently saw one of his interviews on French television (France 2). Well, I must say Jean-Michel is aging quite well despite being over 50, but it would seem strange if he weren't, with the millions he has, a très très française wife (the actress Annie Parillaud), and especially with his glacial, hyperbaric music... You don't age in a fridge... However, one thing must be said. Aside from his ever-loyal fans (those who still - even if they'll never admit it - miss this album and Oxigène) and aside from the French who follow him out of patriotic duty (the French are very patriotic when it comes to music), and further aside from ringtones and jingle ads, Jarre today is finished in the West, fertig, fini. Asia and Russia are his new audiences, and now there’s another great frontier: (his exact words) "the Great Wall," meaning "conquering China." Considering they've already allowed him to perform inside the Forbidden City… Following the interview, I could see the confidence of this man, the zen he knows how to express, truly impressive, he doesn’t flinch (and he has plenty of hair) because he doesn’t come across as overly "intellectual" (to put it in Battiato's terms). Asians are very sensitive to people like this; in fact, they adore them. Jean-Michel couldn't care less about us; he has other plans, facing him are millions of virgin ears ready to be assaulted by his icy strokes...
