And then there are groups that can take me into an orgasmic catharsis... Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Grateful Dead, Emerson Lake & Palmer, Kyuss. But that's another story... maybe you think they’re awful. I started asking about Sonic Youth because I found them on stage and couldn't understand what they were... I mean... heirs of the New Wave?

I don't despise Sonic Youth; on the contrary, I've noticed they have a very large following and seem to be good at the genre they play. There’s a difference between despising a band and simply not being able to enjoy them... I just can’t. What can I say... I'm a poor ignorant person used to thinking in terms of canonical and well-established harmonies, who faced with a series of normally incompatible notes can’t find anything vaguely musical in them... However, I definitely don't doubt that within their genre, Sonic Youth are truly skilled. Bogusman, no, maybe I don’t like them precisely because I’ve dismissed 100% of New Wave by principle. (not to mention 95% of music from the '80s). Stooges, Velvet Underground, Mr. Duca Bianco, etc., etc., I can't get into them.

....mmmmmm if you're feeling grumpy... The Velvet Underground? I believe they were one of the most important and influential bands on this planet, not only mobilizing masses of people in the musical field but also in any other artistic domain, just think of Andy W. In short, they were great! But I don't like them at all... As for the Zep, let's drop it, I was just giving an example. (And anyway, they weren't just criticized by blues purists, they were accused of plagiarism... and the English critics hated them... but... anyway, that's that with them). Regarding Sonic Youth, I just wanted to understand if and how their musical genre is identifiable... Nice review, but the music... gutalax effect, that's it...

Two questions:
a) Is it right to call them stoner? In other words, do they sound like something more rooted in sixties acid than Kyussian? (I should mention that I don’t know them at all and I’m ashamed)
b) Can I find them in record stores or do I have to order them online?
Anyway, a short but impactful review, brief!

Without a doubt, DT are great musicians, even though, in my opinion, they are overrated. But let's take Petrucci's guitar as an example: a plethora, tons, mountains of technique... but it all ends there... a band that doesn’t go beyond technique. Few real emotions. Many emotions derived from virtuosity. They give me the impression of those who play to say "look how good I am! I'm a golden god! No one is cooler than me!" and not "look how I make you enjoy, feel how warm this riff is, feel this bass as it enters your heart"... They are great, sure! But they can be a bit of a drag... sorry, camel... no offense...

No, really, it must be me who doesn't understand... but what's so beautiful about listening to pure noise for its own sake? I go to a nice steelworks and the result is the same. At the independent venue, they did nothing but loop the guitars and let them play endlessly. Whistles, amplifiers about to explode, dreadful equalizations, all highs, no mids and no lows... nothing cutting. I don't know... I repeat, it must be me who's 'gnurant and prefers idiots like... I don't know.. Led Zeppelin... but can someone explain to me what kind of music this is?? Really, what is their genre called? Do they make noise? Now I'm listening to Sonic Nurse again... maybe I'll understand... in the meantime, explain a little to me...

I saw Sonic Youth this summer at the Independent, and no offense, eh... but I think I’ve never attended a more awful concert. Completely unable to play... or maybe they were just very high... for sure they left their harmony at home. Then, I listened to Sonic Nurse... and nope, I don't like it... what genre are they?

It's a great tactic.. maybe you say there are only 1000 copies of that record, and you make some relative/friend happy. But just 6 euros? Considering that you're going to deceive someone, the person will think that with that gift you want to show a great goodwill towards them... I think it's fair to ask you for a bit more. Let's say 200 euros and that's non-negotiable. Plus, take into account inflation, the rise in gas prices (a record is always made of synthetic derivatives of oil), sentimental value, the fact that it's raining today, and a whole bunch of other things blah blah blah. In short, it's more than a fair price.. considering "That we live in a world that's full of shit and gasoline" (to quote "Mexicola"), this is the price for giving a little happiness to your loved ones. You can't not like the Queens... Josh is a walking ham with a guitar! How can you not like someone like that??

Well... 25,000 copies... it's gone viral... strangler, you've played a lot of Risiko, right? Ah, how many evenings together... what a great game! I'm keeping my copy close, and I'll tell you that I like it! What's wrong with this record? 2 fantastic and already known songs, covers of amazing tracks and... well... a remix that isn't a wonder but is still listenable... meh...
