Here I must reassess my opinion, but it's understandable since quite a bit of time has passed. I don’t perceive a clear break from the past: it’s an album that reflects the dark, muffled atmospheres of "Mezzanine," though it doesn’t reach its brilliance. There are innovative moments like the suspended "Everywhen," some bleeps that hint at minimal-electro, a colder sound, but it still feels to me like a subdued "Mezzanine." Perhaps it's true that it’s a cold record: it doesn't hit the emotional peaks of the past, and even the vocal comparisons in the review indicate that the musical history of our artists is too weighty to avoid making comparisons. Ironically, I think the best tracks are the ones that don’t convince the writer, namely "What Your Soul Sings" (even if it’s challenging and dissonant) and especially "A Prayer for England." "Name Taken" is perhaps the worst track. To wrap up this rant, it’s a work that feels the farewells of Daddy G and Mushroom and carries a boredom that surpasses the subsequent "Heligoland," which at least recaptures some immediacy. This one, on the other hand, is truly heavy. Postponed (or rather, postponed).

Years later, I reaffirm my judgment. The attempt to renew the sound after an album ("100th Window") that still felt the hangover of "Mezzanine" without replicating its glories is commendable; however, the record is bland, and the tracks have instrumentals that are too lengthy and boring. "Flat of the Blade" is the worst piece on the album, while the title track and "Paradise Circus" are the best. I would give it a 3.5 because I've admired them since I was a kid, but I wouldn't go any higher.

I don't recognize. I had to start out surrounded by albums by I Nomadi, Venditti, and Massimo Ranieri. Only New Trolls were worth saving, but that's okay.
