I don't know, I found it irritating and felt like I was being messed with from start to finish. I really didn't understand a damn thing. On the topic, I recommend Timecrimes, a low-budget Spanish film that, while imperfect, is much more enjoyable and less of a two-handed mental wank than this.

In my opinion, it's an exaggeration. The film is undeniably nice, but to go from there to saying "film of the year" or even "the renaissance of Italian cinema" is a stretch, for heaven's sake. I mean, for Italian cinema to revive, it has to pretend to be Hollywood (because that’s what this is) but with a shoestring budget? Top-notch actors, sure. But everything else seems predictable and already seen. The part I really liked was the scene with the hand-pushed carousel; the rest felt like an "Italian superhero movie." The final part in the stadium felt clumsy and awkward, with the wrong timing, indecisive, I don't know, it seemed thrown in just to create the big finale everyone was expecting. If you watch Non essere cattivo, what the hell do you do? Start spraying semen from your eyes?
