Well, I might be dazed from last night's alcohol, but what the hell does the first bolded sentence mean?

"Anyone can spout nonsense while passing it off as music reviews, but all in all, you're among the best."
Danny Boyle The Millionaire

I really hated this movie. It’s absurd how Boyle can make great films (Trainspotting, 28 Days Later) and utter crap like this, The Beach, and Sunshine. For me, it’s the most inexplicable Oscar of all time, even more than Titanic.

Yes, P3 rolls and Refn has become an idol of mine. I enjoyed the extras on the DVD of Only God Forgives; the Dane is truly a character.

Wow, so much snobbery on this page. This has nothing to do with Ferrara's film, so comparing them doesn't make sense (okay, the title, okay, the corrupt, drugged cop, but then?). Just like it doesn't make sense to compare Keitel with Cage, who, by the way, does a great job (he's hunched and twisted throughout the film, explosive bursts of anger, mood swings, he's totally unhinged and always believable). There's not much that feels Hollywood about it: how many shootouts? How many chases? Explosions? And the happy ending seems absurdly ironic (is it possible that all the problems get solved in the same scene?). For me, it's a good film, I'd say about 3.5. By the way, some of the ideas are really beautiful: the iguanas, the ballerina soul, the ending with the fish.
Woody Allen Basta Che Funzioni

Pleasant film, very witty, cynical. Unfortunately, it doesn't flow smoothly until the end, but in Allen this problem is recurrent.

I don't know the artist, but I'll try to make up for it. The review is from IlFreddo hyper-inspired, it would be 6 stars.
Nicolas Winding Refn Only God Forgives (Solo Dio Perdona)

Watched it again tonight on DVD. I reiterate: absolute masterpiece. It makes it into my top 5 best films of all time. I even found a new interpretation of the ending.

I have problems with horror movies too, in the sense that after around 20 years old they no longer have any effect on me, just a heap of boredom. I don’t remember this one, but I already know it would suck, just like I no longer enjoy La Casa or Halloween. A horror film today needs to not really be one for me to like it; it needs to have a ton of irony (Evil Dead Army will never age because it’s stupid and makes you laugh) or have elements of mystery like Calvaire or Kill List (they need to be more about madness than raw and gritty horror). For example, Cabin in the Woods is a super satirical slasher; it didn’t blow my mind, but compared to the "classics" today (unfortunately time takes its toll, it has practically destroyed—sorry March Horses—80% of Carpenter's filmography), it outshines them all (yes, even La Casa—sorry Hj). Unfortunately, these horror flicks are like yogurt, they have an expiration date, both because they age poorly and because they’ve been reinterpreted / redone in every possible way.
