(ANSA) - PALERMO, JULY 25 - The ''Rosso del Conte'' 2004 from Tasca d'Almerita has been elected by the magazine Gambero Rosso as the ''best wine of southern Italy'' at the end of the 2007/2008 Road show. The origins of Rosso del Conte date back to 1970 as ''Regaleali riserva del Conte'', a Nero d'Avola, cultivated in the bush vine style, almost pure with a small addition of Perricone, another native variety. The intention was to create a great wine in Sicily that could compete with the world’s most important Crus.
