No, I've never been a fan of the genre; just imagine me going out there to dance to trance—I'd rather stick to heavier stuff! But I still know the genre; I'm knowledgeable enough to be sure of what I'm saying, and above all, I produce music. I can tell you with certainty that Airbase is currently superior to Tiesto, who is basically living off his name (seriously, have you heard his recent productions?!).
ASOT might be a good format (and there's no denying that), but Armin's productions lately are nothing special. To judge a producer, you first need to evaluate the productions; live performances and setlists come later. Since the review is about an album (certainly mediocre) and not a live performance, it's clear that the focus is on the production factor.
P.S.: Rank 1 still produces, even under other pseudonyms.

Armin is another one who has had his time, just listen to his recent productions. It's been since "Burned with Desire" that he hasn't done anything decent. On the other hand, you should keep an eye on Airbase. Just because Armin and Tiësto are the most well-known and commercial doesn't mean they have to remain the best. If you talk about 2000-2004, there was much better than Tiësto... how can we not mention Ferry Corsten, Rank 1? Refresh your ears, Tiësto at home:

Good record, noteworthy samples, powerful beats, incisive scratches; I’d say it gets a bit tiring in the long run, supercapovoro seems "super exaggerated" to me.
modified combined obstacle overlay the best track.

Look, paraOne is just one.. not a group.
Anyway, it's a decent record, definitely among the best names in the crowded French scene, even though in terms of innovation we're still in the same place.. everyone recycling Daft..

Well, in my opinion, it has always been overrated and overhyped.. it did something good at the end of the decade but for a few years now it has been producing stuff that's pretty shallow.. currently, there are better options in the genre (just to name a few, airbase PVD above & beyond!)

I quote the last post!
I've been following them for 4.5 years, and I must say they've never let me down; simply genius, RESPECT.

eheh, this is no joke.
this is one of the best albums ever produced in the history of electronic music. 4 stars is really a limiting score!
musically complex record, the immense skill of these madmen at the sequencer is evident.
hit me, sir ape, grey body green gun, king wasp, and the black regent are the best.
I think I’ll write a review sooner or later, because I really find this one too limiting.

I AGREE ON MUGGS, definitely the number 1 producer in hip hop. It's a shame he's lost some touch lately, but this album remains an incredible stroke of genius; even IV was quite similar in some ways, but it had something less. The "dark hip hop" of Temples of Boom was an innovative and very unique product. I've played this album to death and I still listen to it often. Recommended to everyone!
