Beautiful review. A film I watched a long time ago, memories of a touching and poetic movie.

Sepultura were one of the best death metal bands I used to listen to. The much-praised "Chaos A.D." seems to me like a decent album and nothing more, while "Roots" is a nice experiment with exceptional tracks mixed in with some mediocre songs. Then nothing, so I really don't know how much Andreas Kisser was <the best composer of Sepultura>, considering he wasn't even there on "Morbid Visions" and "Bestial Devastation." That said, the first Soulfly album wasn't bad; I was pleasantly surprised. However, the ones that followed had zero ideas, collaborations, nu-metal nonsense, disgustorama. "Inflikted" didn’t say much to me except for the salvable title track. Right now, I have a desire to listen to it that borders on the urge to stand in line at the bank.

Bea. The cover and title of the album are horrifically relevant...

I wanted to say that... I mean, well... for me... okay, I admit it: I wrote this just because I also wanted a comment as cool as this all in bold!

Alexander77: well, "Friend Of Misery" isn't bad, it just drags on aimlessly after the intro without much of anything or anyone saying anything. On the other hand, "Nothing Else Matters" is just boring; the Metallica have done slower songs. As you say, I prefer sobriety and restraint in rock, like

If the Black Album had been made by the TrizzobaldFica as you say, I would have listened to it a good few times, finding some decent tracks ("Sad But True," "Holier Than Thou," or however it's spelled) and some tracks that TO ME seem like the triumph of banality ("Nothing Else Matters"), along with many almost useless fillers ("My Friends of Misery" and a few others from the B-side). Exactly what I did with the album knowing it was made by Metallica. "Load" on the other hand is a different story: it really sucks; aside from a couple of weak but listenable songs, the rest is zero. Zero ideas, modern look, cool videos, massive marketing, refined booklets... all fluff without substance. The genre shift isn’t really relevant either; for example, Carcass released "Swansong," which has nothing to do with the two albums before it, but it's beautiful.

I would encourage everyone to post shorter comments, because the space seems ample but can run out unexpectedly.

@GALLAGHER: "A slap in the face of an outdated mentality"? But the Metallica HAVE BEEN the outdated mentality for at least 15 years now, always the same things, the usual live shows filled with metal stereotypes, the same old interviews with the same tired bullshit about thrash, come on. This album is shockingly bland, and maybe someone thinks that the Metallica are "exploring new frontiers" by ruining old tracks with outdated orchestral arrangements. Jon Lord was doing this stuff in the late '60s.
