Let's see: Sylosis, five "youngsters" from Reading (UK).
Some might think this is an immature and bland group made in Nuclear Blast, another bland dish that is sometimes served.
But that's not the case: this is a fresh and "flavorful" album, in my opinion immediately apparent, that this band has created based on genuine old-school death and thrash metal influences, seasoned with melodic openings reminiscent of overseas metalcore.
This "Conclusion Of An Age" is an impressive effort for being their first full-length (nonetheless preceded by 2 good EPs).
The cover artwork aligns with the theme of the entire album, depicting nature crushing and destroying man, marking the end of the era.
The songs are powerful and well-structured, and all the members demonstrate a high level of technical skill: the drums (which sound like a click, given how precise they are) surprise with sudden accelerations accompanied by a ubiquitous bass. But it is the work of the "axes" that makes you nod your head: solos that are a marvel to behold and never banal riffs, with guitars that double up, articulate in varied ways, opening up to less harsh melodic phrases (along with the vocals), and then suddenly sharpening again (see "After Lifeless Years"). The vocals are also good, sharp in the scream and powerful and clean when things calm down.
We are faced with a work that is certainly not pure thrash or death metal, but an evolution that starts from these elements and proceeds on its path with conscious and determined progress.
Certainly, these guys are worth keeping an eye on.
