Gryphon Midnight Mushrumps

Great review and a very interesting album... just think that some time ago, at a friend of a friend's house, I saw the original vinyl - now unlistenable as it was covered in a thick dull patina - and I was so ignorant that I thought "Midnight Mushrumps" was the name of the band!

It's a record of great originality and strong personality. You can dance to it and listen to excellent and striking music: I don't think many have managed that. The review is spot on.

Can a Nazi album feature a song titled "Pre-menstrual princess blues"? What pointless controversy... this album is one of the funniest things I know. A classic!!!
Rush Caress Of Steel

It may not be the masterpiece of Rush, but it's the album I'm most fond of. Here they play with truly remarkable elegance, but it’s known that elegance in rock is almost considered a sin.

But a mention/reminder of Fernanda Pivano and her role in this album, right??

Great review and a fantastic album! At the time, seeing the video for "Moving" (and, of course, listening to the song) was like opening a window in a smoke-filled room. As for the cover, I have to say I was disappointed: it’s a rip-off of "Ars Longa, Vita Brevis" by the Nice!!!

Maybe the prog is finished, but it remains (even if not exactly in this exhausting double) still a great feeling. At the very least, the bands of that era had courage to spare.

One of Tim's most expressive records, written, played, and sung with his heart on his sleeve. "Dream Letter" is one of the most beautiful songs I know.

Not that it's bad, but Roth's carefree irony and his flamboyance brought balance to the band, cleverly lightening certain serious passages or giving life to almost theatrical characterizations (you can almost picture "Atomic Punk," as well as the terrible class of "Hot for Teacher," just to name a couple of songs). With Hagar, this dimension is completely lost, and all the attention becomes too focused on Eddie Van Halen (that is: as great as he is, Hagar is too traditional a singer).
