Weakling Dead As Dreams

One of the first albums of this kind that I've happened to listen to: it really annoyed me a bit, also because the recording quality is pretty terrible. After getting my bearings with Deathspell Omega, Mitochondrion, Portal, and other similar stuff, I think I’ll give it another chance. The self-censored swear words annoy me, personally: doing it here is like wearing a raincoat on the beaches of the Côte d'Azur.

A small pedantic note: you can't refer to Scotland as a "state," mind you ;). Also, both he and HudMo are from Glasgow.

I have to admit that this album, despite making a great first impression, will struggle to stand the test of time. I'm sure that within a few months the sound textures used here will give goosebumps to many. But it's just a structural fact of this kind of music, so whatever. Much more interesting and probably more enduring is the debut of SBTRKT (what a damn name, though).

A caramel apple filled with ketamine. I talked about it too on my modest blog. Revelation of last year. Even though Hudson Mohawke got there first with these things, you were right to mention him.

Anyway, he is the R&B version of Eros Ramazzotti.

The review is brief, but I don't feel like giving you a bad rating because at least you diversify the site's offerings a bit. The album has some very good tracks, "Over My Dead Body" and "Headlines" among them, but it's really too long and filled with fillers. It's definitely more solid and interesting than similar albums coming from the States.

One of my favorites. Just the first two tracks are enough to melt me.

Moreover, making a cover with the Burj al-Arab in Dubai, in the style of an Alpitour catalog, is a bit ridiculous, come on.
