Psychobonco, aka Federico Boncompagni, was born in the distant 1991, a bad year apparently for human evolution. He immediately approached good music as it should be at around 10 years old, when he started listening to and collecting Beatles records together with his best friend Psychrockblues alias Francesco Andreini (now counting more than 40, including original English and American prints). His love for vinyl has always been innate and he still spends most of his money on LPs. At 13, after meeting his dear friend Matteo Magistrato, he began listening to Hard Rock including Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Motorhead—and oh dear, the band he now hates to death, Iron Maiden, absolute hatred—also has a hate toward Queen, Guns n Roses, and Kiss. A major turning point was the suggested and forced listen by his father of In The Court Of the Crimson King, a record that opened Federico's ears to listening to King Crimson, Yes, Gentle Giant, Van Der Graaf Generator, and many others. Another turning point was listening to Country Joe And The Fish, which introduced him to the beautiful path of Psychedelia, a path he continued with friends Magistrato and Andreini, deepening the subject. He did the same with blues and especially the New Wave, another genre he loves but continues alone after listening to Marquee Moon and Joy Division (Devo, Feelies, Pop Group, Pere Ubu, P.I.L. among his favorite new wave bands). Among his favorite bands and singers: Beatles, Who, John Cale, Velvet Underground, Joy Division, Pop Group, Television, etc. His greatest loves include his basses: the legendary Rickenbacker 4003 and the Fender jazz bass from 1976.
