Joan Baez Farewell, Angelina

@zarboris: Diamond & Rust is a great album, the best of Baez, but out of 11 tracks only 5 are hers, the rest is the usual fare from Dylan, Jackson Browne, Allman Bros, John Prine, etc. As for Gulf Winds, entirely written by her, it's really bad, like, really bad. And where did you read that someone who only uses their voice is not an artist? For me, Baez is an interpreter and not a songwriter; if you think the opposite, then it's you who doesn't know her discography...

Wow, shooting star, have I told you that you should marry me? (and that would be a couple of weddings fewer than Earle). This is my absolute personal HERO, a true rebel (not those fools who pretend to be) who has always gone after what he wanted. Remember the John Walker's Blues written in defense of the American who was found enlisted among the Taliban? And once again, they all come down hard on poor Steve.
Great review, in the track "Johnny Comes Lately," the Irish cadence that you rightly highlight is provided by the Pogues who guest on it. What a shame that not many know it; they often label it as country, but for me, he’s a true rocker with roots in country. This is a great album, but not Earle's best; the first "Guitar Town" is a masterpiece, and the acoustic "Train a' Comin" and "Transcendental Blues" are also fantastic.

...actually, I believe that out of 40 albums released, only 15 songs are his, the rest are mostly all traditional & Dylan for the most part... he's not Joni Mitchell.

...she may be your favorite songwriter, but she didn't write a single track on this album... it's all someone else's work...

In the same year as "armed robbery," there was also a NO LESS great "Kiss Me Deadly" by Robert Aldrich, based on Spillane. One of the FUNDAMENTAL noirs of filmmaking.

...happypippo, I think you also need to hire a screenwriter, but a good one, not the one from Harry, I'm introducing Sally.

But do you think a film is judged by the fact that if you understand right away how it will end, then it's a toilet? It seems to me that no one, not even me, gave a 5 to this movie, while for Leon I saw it getting the maximum score, but Besson can only shine Scorsese's shoes like Moriero did at Inter when Ronaldo scored... with the difference being that Besson has to shine them even when Scorsese, instead of scoring, hits the post or the crossbar, like in this film...

Do I have to tell you everything? I prefer Dylan's songs sung by him, just like Colours by Donovan, which in the original version is stunningly psychedelic and not boring like Baez's version...........
