...and you’re right to seek oleeinar, don’t get caught up in the genre, as the reviewer rightly says (it's the second time I quote him) it’s "an album that is punk more in spirit than in music."

Hi mister, thanks for the compliments, but reviews like the one on old Chuck are probably beyond my reach now :)
Regarding Quine and Verlaine, I wouldn't underestimate Tom's "psychoticness," which, as you'll hear, has its fair share of strangeness. Let's also consider that in 1977, Quine is already 35 compared to Verlaine’s 28 and Hell’s age too. The reviewer is right when they say too old to punk...

too bad that when I saw Lou Reed it was already too late... Mike Rathke was on guitar.

@azzo, in mid-April I saw Verlaine in concert with the other guitarist Jimmy Rip, and I don't know what you mean by soul, because Verlaine live is quite a cold and "distant" type from the audience, although technically very skilled. If by soul we mean (as Patti Smith said) that his guitar resembles the singing of a thousand birds, then I agree with you.

Aside from the enthusiasm for the supposed "stonerism" of the Puppets, I agree with the reviewer. I regret that many can't get past or miss the genius of the country-jazz-blues-funky-punk twist in albums like "Huevos" or "Monsters." I think few in the eighties were able to give the impression of such acidic musical experimentation starting from hardcore as the Kirkwood brothers did, but tastes are tastes. Here there's a stunning "Violet Eves" that owes a lot to producer Paul Leary (Butthole Surfers), but as the reviewer rightly points out, it’s an album that spans genres with a mastery and confidence that only the greats can exhibit.

I invite you, as I did for colossal youth, to check out my review of gg allin; you can still find it on the homepage :)

I'm sorry for you and Lux but I don't have any sisters; if you want to see a loser, I think you need to use a mirror.

Wow, then it's definitely worth a listen..the cover looks like it was illustrated by the great Richard Corben.

Did you feel somewhat disrespected by these ironic comments? Stop clowning around and intervene like I do when there are people on this site wishing cancer and various ulcers upon the reviewer. I didn’t see you step in to express your disapproval in that case. I repeat: fools!

@vortex, I wiped the slate clean of the past and in order not to become like colossalyouth will in a few years, I’ve set aside vices and temptations. Biking has saved me, I’ve seen the light :D
