THE REVIEW

Having left Neurot and Steve Albini might have gotten a bit worried, which seems normal to me, after all. They surely said to themselves: <<And now what do we do?>> Someone must have smiled, someone else, though, would have smiled but in a mocking way, beating their hand on their chest while winking... <<I'll take care of it!>>

Party: everyone in the rehearsal room of Made Out Of Babies. Plenty of invitations for the right people. Big Black, Unsane, Jesus Lizard, Neurosis, Melvins, and other big names all present, all sipping beer through a funnel, packed tightly on flea-ridden couches. All okay, all fun until the one with the mocking smile arrives. <<No one leaves here until you make us a great record. Not just any record... a real record-record. And now to work!>>

"The Ruiner": a cool and influential album from 2008. A feast for the senses, a sound that glues you to the wall, viulenzaviulenza! Stretched to the limit, incredibly cool. A female voice that's not displeasing, not disturbing, as emphatic as few. Bass-drums that make more noise than a locomotive; guitar shreds consciences, more ungraceful and ill-fated than what the genre requires. It will quarter you just like a golf club would quarter you.
