The Flaming Lips Embryonic

Dr. Zaireeka! What a pleasure that you are with us again! You have no idea how worried Dr. Jung, Dr. Adler, and I were about you (that out-of-tune gypsy Dr. Freud is always around, occasionally we have a video call with great-grandma, but nothing more). We feared that you had fallen for Freudian theories and had abandoned us for good. Last night, the society toasted to your return with some absinthe. It seems that you are doing better, and surely this new Fiery Lips will do you good. Please give our regards to little Yoshi: who knows how big she is becoming! Don't stay away for too long though, now that you’re back.

Ale, the world is beautiful because it’s varied, but it’s probably also been a while since you cleaned the wax out of your ears. The production of Jar of Flies is not plasticky at all. It’s a semi-acoustic album played by a hard rock band. The sounds are those, not those of an acoustic album by Drake or Oldham. And the guitars sound marvelous. And Inez's bass has a sound that goes beyond marvelous. The production is crystal clear, yet perfect. With Ole and Bartle, I’ve noticed that what makes me love AIC unconditionally is that they’re always on the verge of crossing into metal, but they never go over the edge. I can only thank God that you weren’t their producer.

P.S.: oh, I haven't seen Maria Antonietta, what should I do? Should I see it or not? For Ale yes, for Gabri no.

Beautiful page, if I may. One of the greatest groups in history, if I may. I quote Mary: may John Peel also be praised. How lovely the sound of his sessions, how lovely the sound of his sessions at the end of the '70s, raw and unrefined. The Joy, Siouxsie, Fall, them. @ Boredom, you really haven't heard them? Just know that Entertainment is one of the absolute masterpieces, not only beautiful in itself, but one of the most influential records in rock history.

Paraphrasing the title, I would say that the essential thing is to buy all the Alice albums, even the unplugged one which has some spectacular moments (just the beginning, with the band coming in one by one and the applause for Staley, gives me chills every time I hear it). Like all the great quartets in history, if one of the two geniuses is missing, the singer or the guitarist, the rest doesn't matter. Also because, as we've discussed before, Staley remains one of the four or five best lyricists of the nineties. By the way, I heard the first single a couple of months ago from the new album, and it didn't sound bad at all. I certainly won’t buy it; AIC died with the unplugged. P.S.: Staley’s end is nevertheless tragically haunting: I recently found myself, precisely because of the reunion, reading about his last days, and it's truly of infinite sadness, him, the stuff, and nothing else.

Yes, be clever, you fools, because I want to see how you'll be at my age. You'll be going to see Raul Casadei, not the Dinsoaurs. In fact, I think you already do; it's just that I don't go and I haven't caught you. But sooner or later I'll make the rounds of the dance halls with Gabri and I'll catch you all. And we'll even expose you, because the queen couple of the evening will be none other than Mr. Azzo & Miss Kosmo. Hah, losers...

Anyway, let it be clear, let all DeB know, You are a nefarious one, and of the worst kind. It only took a DeM to eliminate me. Ole is just a bit less of an asshole because he sent me to see the dinosaurs. But I guess he only did it because You told him not to. At this point, I also understand Blech's complaints. The review is really funny, even though You are a piece of shit, and it seems to me that I've already read it somewhere else. But I still love you, bald dwarf.

But no, I listened to it in a hurry, but I had a lot of expectations, and instead, it’s just flat, or at least that’s how it appeared to me. I’ll give it another try, maybe I’ll change my mind. But the old records, you put them on and you were immediately enchanted by the material...

Good job, Fedee, I listened to it in streaming too. But it really struck me as bad, or am I wrong? I mean, the first two Sparklehorse albums have songs that are, oh my god, this one doesn’t even have half of that. Whoa, give Linkous his drugs back, I mean.
White Lies To Lose My Life

It was about time someone reviewed this record. Not that it’s anything special, though. It’s just that it’s been played a lot. Anyway, it doesn't have as references the Division, but rather some second or third generation deleterious new wave stuff, like China Crisis, A Flock of Seagulls, and various crap. The White Lies are really out of touch, just the clichés of the epigones. But the album is super cute, just stupid enough, and I willingly listen to it. And yes, it’s also pretty cool to point out that I love you but is cooler. In short, it’s a big deal, I'm all in!
