5 stars, I mean on an annual level; I strongly doubt that by the end of the year I will have listened to many albums better than this one, even though I hope so. Of course, within their discography, it’s inferior to two or three of their classics. Anyway, besides Bertoncelli, Pitchfork gave it 9.3; Rolling Stone and All Music Guide 4.5 out of 5. Four and a half for me too, so I’ll go along with that.

P.S.: the film has nothing to do with the first one, not at all, except that the protagonists, in both cases, are zombies. Both stylistically (the first one is in black and white, reminiscent of certain American independent cinema à la Cassavetes, while the second feels much more Corman-esque) and in terms of content (the first is an adaptation of a novel by Matheson, and the fundamental theme is racism), while the second, much more Romer-esque in its idea, is a denunciation against consumer society and the media.

Thirty years later, I saw it again a couple of years ago, with a terrifying relevance. One of the four or five most "political" films of the last thirty years. Paradoxically even more striking than the first, as on the surface it’s much more splatter and easy. On the other hand, it was also a commercial success. As usual, I disagree with Poletti: it’s not boring and pedantic, it’s intriguing and extremely entertaining. This is said to be due in part to the intervention during the editing phase of the European version by Dario Argento, who co-produced it and wrote some parts of the screenplay. I give you a 5, since no one else will, even though your alternative version, while entertaining, kind of sucks, and you stumble on a "Come se (...) tentano" instead of "Come se tentassero". Bes.

@Kyklos: Basically, 2000 fans funded the recordings of the CD (the contract with Mute had ended). In return, they could follow the recordings and have exclusive previews available for download. If you go to their website, I think it's explained better there. I read an interview in Rumore.

Will our hero manage to leave no comment on a review of Nevermind? He almost did it. Then he was on the last comments page and read Sanjuro's. BUAH!BUAH! Hey Sanju: didn't they take you for "La sai l'ultima" that you’re still here telling nonsense? 2.5 for this album? But last year you reviewed it and said that Nirvana are the best band of the '90s. "A record for kids who wear All Stars." And what do you wear? Birkenstocks for outdoor and 12-inch heels at home? But above all, what album do you give a 5? The latest by Valerio Rivoli? You’re as trustworthy as Emilio Fede in front of Berlusca dressed as a woman.

I still have the tape from that date somewhere; we brought a good recorder inside, batteries in our socks, and gave those shocks to the ones who were checking. Too bad, as someone already said, that it was already the Unforgettable tour. @ Blacky dear, as if you didn't know how old I am, before these I had already seen both the Clash and the Rolling... worry about the kids, because every year you talk, talk, and don't end up achieving a damn thing :-)

I would say the review is perfect. I can only add that the album has a sound that's a bit too "metal" and predictable, compared to certain loves of Danzig, and that Giger's cover is one of the most beautiful of the last twenty years, especially if you are lucky enough to have the vinyl.
