Hello everyone. I want to start by saying this: I recently signed up, but I have read many reviews, and this is the first one I've written. Since it's my first, I decided to review one of my favorite albums by one of my favorite bands.
I'm talking about U2, and the album in question is a live titled "Under a Blood Red Sky," released in 1983. The album starts with a drum attack and the great frontman Bono Vox saying "This is Gloria," 4.43 minutes of energy and a beautiful guitar riff. The second song, "11 o'clock tick tock," is a bit more relaxing than the first, featuring a great Bono who could afford to sing some phrases in falsetto. In fact, he recently declared that he can no longer sing that way because of tobacco. The third song, "I Will Follow", returns to the rhythms of Gloria, as does the fourth, "Party Girl", where Bono duets with the audience. The fifth song is the famous "Sunday Bloody Sunday", one of the greatest rock anthems ever. The song begins with a speech by Bono, and then The Edge, the guitarist for those who don't know, kicks off with an unmistakable riff. Another noteworthy mention goes to the drummer, in my opinion, incredibly strong, Larry Mullen Jr, who plays at full force from start to finish. The sixth song, "The Electric Co", maintains the pace of Gloria & co, while for the seventh, "New Year's Day", The Edge takes to the piano, and the entire song is built around that set of notes.
It's worth noting that U2 is one of those few bands that have never played with additional musicians at concerts, but always stuck with the four of them: Bono, The Edge, Larry Mullen Jr, and Adam Clayton.
The album closes with "40", the first truly slow song on the album, and the most moving one, ending gradually with people singing the chorus over the backing music for about a minute. Approximately 40 minutes of energy, melody, and finally, one of the most beautiful things, emotion. If you're a fan of the legendary Dublin band and haven't listened to it yet, I invite you to do so.
One of their concerts is not a simple concert, but a true live adventure.
UNDER A BLOOD RED SKY has sensations to provoke. But telling or explaining them is difficult.
"'Under a Blood Red Sky' manages to deliver a lot in terms of energy. It is a short and direct record like very few others, without a moment to breathe."
Bono's tribute: "This is our hero," a salute to The Edge, whose early '80s charisma was hypnotic and rare on stage.
