Delightful is the first Verdone, rich in scenes drawn from the true Roman everyday life: the repeated use of the term piccolo-borghese is very politically incorrect, or neorealism—if anything, we talk about social classes homogenized in the early '80s, then scattered among the proletariat-advanced tertiary sector—now regressed towards poverty.
The film made history, the slang phrases did too, the title track was iconic, I think I still have the 45, this movie has become a small classic: never vulgar, less harsh than Borotalco and more melancholic, more resigned. One curiosity: did Verdone really sleep with Hovey? Rumor has it that he did.
