THE REVIEW

Writing a review about Britti is difficult, at least for me... just look at the messes made when reviewing another album by the Roman singer-songwriter, "3". Ah, because Britti is a singer-songwriter ????

Come on, we don't want to compare Britti to people like Faber, Tecno (no, no, it's not a mistake), Il Signor G, etc. etc...!?!? But of course not... the Singer-songwriter is born to (de)scribe stories - and much more - that are meaningful. Then there are tastes (damn them!!!) that make us prefer the Pen of P. Ciampi to that of O. Spadaro. Now, my (tastes) - terrible ones - find in Britti a good artist, who, although he started as a guitarist, retains some minimal songwriting skills. Eh, ehm, yes, because I believe that some of his songs, like "Milano", do not have much to envy regarding what else is out there today. Unfortunately, however, Britti is categorized as "a good (for some even excellent) guitarist, who neither knows how to sing nor write". Maybe so, but I will continue to believe that some of his songs are a very successful example of "Song-Writing".

"Nomi". A song, also included in this live performance, leaves one astonished, agape, as if to say "is it possible that Britti wrote it ?!?"

I don't know... maybe I insist on defending him, simply because he was the first singer-songwriter (or pseudo-one, fate vobis) I listened to. In ten years, perhaps, I will ridicule him, with an ironic smile that will mean "but is it possible I liked this?!?". Who knows.... for now, I put on "Alex Britti: MTV Unplugged", and even though I know in my heart, it’s not the unplugged of Clapton or Cobain & company, I enjoy it, and I appreciate the solo ending of "Milano", the sarcasm of "Favole", the hidden critique of "Da piccolo", and the excellent phrasing of "Lo zingaro felice".

I prefer not to delve too much into the details, avoiding analyzing the album closely; after all, the boredom caused should have already reached a good level.
