I give this record a 5 because it’s rough in the way I want to feel right now; otherwise, it would have been a 4.

Look, I don’t hate Springsteen (how could you hate someone who made an album like The River?), but I had in my hands the cd of Lucky Town where he’s shirtless next to his Harley, and to me those American-export bullshit things make me want to puke. Now Bruce has become a sort of Ronaldo when he was at Inter: if he was on the field, then you could win; if Bruce makes an album like The Rising, then America can rise again after September 11… In short, Bruce, for a whole series of things that are probably bigger than him (the great misunderstanding about Born In The USA is a glaring example), has become a sort of superhero of American music, but for me the Coguaro has always said so much more, always so much more, despite the ups and downs that can happen in a 30-year career, and if that's the case, Springsteen has had his fair share too (you better believe it!) or someone like Dylan, so… Let’s not underestimate the lovely Human Wheels either, with that spectacular piece: What If I Came Knocking?

if Grignani had committed suicide two months after this album, today he would be a legend... the most vulnerable man in Italy, able to unite grungers and rockers (Vasco Rossi wanted him as a son), neomelodic songwriters from the popular districts and today’s softies at Gigi D'Alessio's court (my ex made me listen to his debut album three times in a row while we were naked in the bathtub, at one point I was expecting someone to bring us a razor). In his own way, a miracle.

I adore dance the night away and I find Malo's solo album delightful (the one, to be clear, with I Said I Love You, which isn’t the strongest track on the album) and the Mavericks, tolerating but not loving tex-mex (which, however, has its merits in the energy it conveys). I must say that when they venture into Latin and root-rock, I quite like them. Contrary to what was written in your favorable review, I find them weak precisely in country-rock: holistic, (too nostalgic?), almost caricatural.

I hope you will propose Laurel Canyon to us. As for the risk of duplicates, don't worry: I've already covered that on DeBaser.

I never dreamed of getting on a tractor even when I was on LSD... I take this opportunity to give a shout-out to the legendary Jackie DeShannon, the precursor of all those sixtie singers who truly deserve recognition, like Linda Ronstadt, Judee Sill, and in her own way, Mitchell as well. In short, the representatives of what's called "Laurel Canyon Rock," a term coined from "Laurel Canyon," which is actually a Jackie DeShannon album.

always great don. I don't know the album but lee, well, I think I've heard something by lee and that something is wonderful. If you want to know a little more about lee, there's also my review of the International Submarine Band, the absolute debut of the legendary Gram Parsons, which Hazlewood had a hand in. A great inventor of Cowboy Psychedelia, who recently passed away from cancer, recorded albums until the very end.

Well... I also remember the pretty good cover of Johnny and Mary by Placebo. But I think Tina Turner also sang it, didn't she? At least I remember it from a movie full of nudity and sex with Robert Gallagher set in Greece during the summer. As for Addicted To Love, the parody-reference in the movie Bleep... What the Bleep Do We Know? is hilarious, you know, the movie about quantum physics, metaphysics, and the law of attraction that did really well in America (and I highly recommend you watch it).

to the great Merle, 5 for content and indefinite time. However, I would consider myself more of a country-rock lover. I find your writing style very good and your proposals highly valid. I have always been a supporter of those who do not limit themselves to reviewing what they like or feel like, but who aim for a purpose, a logical thread, a "didactic goal," and pursue it. I have done it, FrancescoBus does it with thrash, Currahee with country rock, Donjunio with the music of the summer of love and Americana, and various others... Perhaps you could have put a little more effort into recounting the concert or describing some tracks (it would have benefited the novice), but I really can’t deny you a solid 5. Even though I think The Blues Brothers is a terrible film.

It's a great pleasure to read one of your pages again. It's even more so if you’re reviewing a band that has always intrigued me. Not to mention the fact that I’ve been waiting for Nasty Ronnie and the gang branded Francescobus for two years! I listen to this album less than Indulgence, but it’s more varied and arty. The only shame is that it doesn’t sound as loud as Indulgence. But maybe that’s a good thing: it makes it accessible to pop-rock oriented ears. I actually believe that their debut is enjoyable for any rocker, even if they’re a soft-rocker. Will there be a sequel? And in any case, don’t keep me waiting too long, please! A big hug.
