DDR, where one in a hundred Germans collaborated with the Stasi, would have been perfection on earth? One can still live comfortably (well-being = economic concept*) in any totalitarian system; it depends case by case, who you are, what you do, and what you think.

* well-being: 1) state of good health or psycho-physical satisfaction and/or 2) condition of affluence - standard of living.

I haven't seen "Crimes and Misdemeanors" yet, at least I think I've only seen the first 10 minutes and I wasn't paying much attention. So I can't respond. I remember there's him taking his daughter or niece to the cinema every day in "Crimes and Misdemeanors," right? I can only say that "Match Point" is so far the worst among the ones I've seen by Allen. I've seen only a few.
