The boys in The Beatles were undoubtedly the best of their career, especially in terms of creativity (which tends to fade over time). As for the absolute best, perhaps McCartney was a well-rounded musician, but Lennon’s "acid" intuitions (in every sense) just waited for Paul's syrupy touch. Then again, John was known for not being able to recognize the backbeat compared to the multi-instrumentalist Macca (drums, bass, trumpet, guitar, piano...)
