gilmur, someone who states "I have never watched MTV for more than 10 seconds in my life..." while at the same time judging the music that the channel broadcasts (you yourself admitted that this channel, which you don't follow, airs mainstream stuff, so how do you know? :-D) what impression does that make on you? then the statement "like? you’re the alternative one who watches MTV and listens to this crap?" conveys, despite its bizarre construction, an underlying meaning that sounds something like this: "no. I am because I don't listen to this crap." if this meaning is something I completely dreamed up, I might as well bow my head on this point...

Kenny, here’s my vote! Beyond the fact that the concept of 'alternative' is quite vague and, as far as I’m concerned, it’s rather ridiculous to try so hard to SHOW that you are 'alternative' (it’s fine if a teenager does it, but after a while it just makes you laugh/cry), boasting about being alternative like Gilmour when he’s a fan of a band that has been mainstream for decades, for better or for worse (I mean, isn’t the alternative supposed to be this, right?) makes you think about his way of relating to music and the world in general... (p.s. but do you realize, Dave, that if people have it out for you, it’s not for musical reasons, but because you make comments – ridiculous and pretentious – that have nothing to do with the seven notes?)
