I completely agree; in fact, one of the most enjoyable things is being surprised by artists that one might not have appreciated before. Unfortunately, people often think in dogmas and statements of faith, missing out on excellent opportunities for exploration. But I believe that with healthy feedback, this difficulty can be smoothed out. The important thing is to remain open to listening (both musically and to others).
