The film is certainly not a masterpiece and has some (almost) unforgivable flaws, but it remains among my favorite action movies for various reasons that I won’t reiterate here. Cage, by his own admission, is a cinematic prostitute: he goes where the dollars are and thus often finds himself in unwatchable films, but when he wants to, he has shown that he "has it" (besides the mentioned "Arizona Junior," I think it's unfair not to mention "Adaptation," "Moonstruck," "Windtalkers," "Wild at Heart," "Leaving Las Vegas," "The Other Side of Heaven," and others that I now forget; I'm sure there would be more).
