Nice double CD of the Italian date of the Monsters Of Rock '92. The concert is great, dynamic, in full Iron style (there's also a video bootleg of the concert, which was almost entirely broadcast by Videomusic), as they were experiencing a major revival at that time.
It's a shame that "Be Quick Or Be Dead," the missile with which Iron opened that tour, is missing. Despite the well-designed packaging, there are some rather notable errors, such as Adrian Smith being mentioned among the band members (he hadn’t played with Iron since '90, with Janick Gers taking his place), and two songs are listed with the wrong title ("The Evil That Men Do" becomes "Livin In A Razor's Edge" and "The Clairvoyant" as "Time To Live, Time To Die").
As usual, when Iron are in form, you can feel it, and also on this occasion, the Maiden's sound wall is the absolute protagonist. It's a pity about the recording quality, which is not exactly exceptional.
I am particularly fond of this bootleg as it was the first Iron concert I attended and, incidentally, I was positioned quite close to the stage, on the left, where Steve Harris, Janick Gers, and Bruce Dickinson were performing. I have very vivid memories of that day, which seemed never-ending and for which I had been waiting for a long time. I remember the emotion and adrenaline of "The Number Of The Beast" and the sheer wonder of hearing Bruce sing so well (given the results of the previous two tours, no one expected him to sing like before).
A final explosion of joy when Nicko started "Running Free": since then, every time I hear Running Free, it brings to mind a moment that, in its clear simplicity, perfectly synthesizes what Maiden meant to me. Perhaps it means nothing, but, all in all, who cares?
