Yeah, I thought it was strange! ;) Anyway, Sparklehorse isn’t lo-fi, come on, he perfectly pretends to be, but he’s not. The way he crafts the sounds, very few do it like that. Just because he likes dirty, frayed, skewed sounds, that's another story. But he does it on purpose. Take the hiss in Babies On The Sun: it’s not just some background noise he got tired of removing... no, no, it’s a deliberately chosen sampled hiss placed there on purpose (keep in mind that Sparklehorse is my favorite genius, huh - along with Stef Kamil Carlens - watch what you say ;-P )

Well, actually Pavement, Daniel Johnston, Radio Dept, and even Sparklehorse aren't that experimental. Liar a little bit. I know exactly what you mean by experimental, Caz :) I mean Faust, Red Krayola, Zappa, Patton, Tom Waits, Xiu Xiu... and also, for example, Fog. Fog is very lo-fi and also very experimental (the samples in my review are the most melodic)... also quite whiny though, I don’t know if you like that.
