"The Good Morning Boy," or Marco Lacampo, returns with his third solo work after leaving Elle a few years back. Goodmorningboy with this album shows us that Italian-style singer-songwriter music is far from over; it's actually been reborn, transforming into something different from the traditional.

Hamletmachine is an acoustic album with some splashes of electronics useful for making a work more varied that would otherwise rely solely on Marco's guitar, piano, and voice. It's a work far from the tradition of Italian singer-songwriter music, instead more akin to international artists of the caliber of Nick Drake, Neil Young, or the more current Elliott Smith due to the dark and melancholic undertone of each song.

Marco's weak and timid voice is the protagonist in these ten intimate and sparse ballads where the predominant sentiment is sadness. There are tracks that in some cases touch the soul like "Hit Me With The Water" or "Me, My Sister And John," and only in one instance, the concluding "All Is Falling," does the gloomy and dark sky of the album seem to open up a bit to the serene.

An album not recommended to listen to on a Saturday night before going out to have fun and in general to those who don't like sad things; on the other hand, for those who want to experience a bit of melancholy, Goodmorningboy is ready to help you.
An artist still all to discover.
