Dream Theater Metropolis Pt 2: Scenes From A Memory

Why can't they be compared, excuse me? All the drummers play... It's not like one is a ball picker and the other a window dresser. Huh, how the hell do you make a comparison between a ball picker and a window dresser? But those are drummers. I can compare two drummers, even if they play different genres... or not? Like: "X is very good technically, oh, doesn’t miss a beat, double pedal that’s a dream; well Y doesn’t mess around either, maybe he’s not powerful and fast but he throws in those accents every now and then that are surprising, he’s varied and exciting." (external contribution from someone who knows nothing about drumming technique)

I said that CocoRosie makes more intriguing music (because there are much more unusual elements than guitar+voice, regardless of the fact that Devendra's melodies are well crafted). However, I didn't talk about quality; that's rather subjective at this level. Devendra's music is at least a century old, while CocoRosie's sounds rather new to me (who uses guitar, harp, drumbeats, and toys? maybe only Comelade and Waits - obviously we are talking about a whole different level - could have done something similar)... I don't know, I have the impression that you haven't listened much to the two sisters. Or at least you haven't really watched them, otherwise you wouldn't speak poorly of them!!! ;-)))

For drummers, I vote for Yuval Gabay (Soul Coughing) and Carter Beauford (DMB).

Thank you, super fast! :) Not bad, you know? "Burn" speaks to me a lot in its simplicity. And it’s not trivial, you’re right. The voice is very beautiful, it sounds like the voice of a swarm of bees basking in the sun on the snow :) Bye

Oh look, I love conciseness too, in fact it wasn't a criticism, quite the opposite! :) I’ll vote for you again, take that!!!! :D

:D I'm talking about that live Zaione!!! Do you remember when Lee raised his arm and then launched himself at his guitar, stabbing it with his drumsticks? I died right then. But now I'm good, you know.

I miss soul, anti-muse, and honestly, it doesn't attract me. But if you speak well of it... damn, you're one of my favorite gurus (slecc, slecc)! Mmm, even the samples disgust me quite a bit; not the reception of course :) now I'm going out and hugging... mmm... we'll see.

Hi biglebowsky, great review, you say a lot with little. The album is undeniable. But they have made so many 'untouchable' albums, the Sonic Youth, that deciding which one is the most representative becomes a mere matter of taste. For example, I am particularly fond of "Experimental Jet Set..." which is usually not mentioned. Anyway, 100% live is sensational and the "centrifuga" you referred to is a term that fits perfectly. Regards

Listening to it again after some time, I liked it much more! You shouldn’t mention Joy Division when talking about CDs I might like, what the hell! ;-P
