Once (drunk and dressed as an elf), I asked a girl I crossed paths with on the windy bridge of a ship, "Are you looking for the sky?" and she, smiling, replied, "No, the stars," and it was true; she actually had a map in her hand and I hadn't even noticed. Needless to say, I fell in love with her instantly. Especially because she was a total knockout.

Yes, come on Emanuele, "mass commerce" for Bitches Brew seems like a somewhat off-center judgment to me. It's a very complex, deviant, unsettling record in some ways, absolutely devoid of "easy" mass appeal.

I don’t really get you, Enea. Don't I have your approval to comment here? (This time I didn't even give a rating.)

I’m starting to understand what you mean. And what would Bitches Brew have to do with it? @Jim: watch your nickname, soon there will be some for the Doors as well ;)

The situation is getting very interesting. An authoritative voice that demystifies Miles Davis. Go ahead, if you can. (As long as you don’t demystify the Velvet Underground, I’ll remain unperturbed.)

I listened to Schnittke. Thank you, JoP, thank you. A truly top-level composer. And thank youuuuu also to the one who gifted it to me :)

What a pity, we are actually just slaves to the majors Emanuele, all we do is listen to Britney Spears and Maroon 5. Jokes aside, I agree with your argument, except for one point, when you say that mass consensus is a negative indicator: I don't think that is always true. Mass consensus is simply not an index, neither negative nor positive; it is a phenomenon independent of the artistic value of a work. As a jazz novice, I would instinctively bring up other types of musicians (Pink Floyd, Bob Dylan for example), but wanting to stick to the genre, Miles Davis had success, I’d say, even my cat knows him, and yet he’s a genius, right?

that's the point, having a dialogue and making arguments is one thing, but disregarding other people's words while showing off for your own luck is another. You understand that one doesn’t expect from Ronaldinho (assuming you really are, a Ronaldinho, unpredictable and classy) to go up to a kid on a small field to tease him and say, "You know, I'm Ronaldinho, I've won the Ballon d'Or, you don't know shit about football."
