The Beatles Abbey Road

It seems interesting, I’ll try to listen to them. PS Scaruffi is funny, I don’t see why anyone should be outraged if someone feels like writing to him. For me, the weak point of his theory about the Beatles is that he compares them to boy bands, neglecting the fact that they wrote their own songs, whereas boy bands did not. They were not innovative, and he is right about that, but everything else is a matter of taste, and you can’t impose on someone to find beautiful melodies that they consider trivial. As for the "political-social" framing of their music... who cares, it shouldn’t matter at all. That said, I repeat, immortal melodies *written by them*, for me that’s the point.

Go Caz, go with your sermon on genres and sub-genres. If you also throw in the reference to Mr. Iko who hated them and preferred to talk only about "good music" and "bad music," I'll give you the thumbs up.

I’ll share my thoughts: photography, for me, is art and truly deserving of being reviewed. I have more doubts, however, about images from reportage/documentary, like that of the Vietnamese girl – a beautiful, touching, intense photo, etc., but it’s a shot taken in a moment, unplanned, unthought, hence not functional to the artist's expression ("an artist is someone who knows how to express themselves well," who said that? I can’t remember. Maybe Carmelo Bene?). This particular photo, for example, is clearly "thought out," inspired by some intention from the artist. I believe so, at least; I'm open to being convinced otherwise.

Dear Geb, bigot, as I see it, anyone with beliefs as rigid as they are based on very superficial considerations fits this definition perfectly, and you respond perfectly to this characterization. I have started to answer the questions, but I repeat that addressing certain concepts (that the Church is not made up solely of priests or just of the faithful; that secularization is a cyclical phenomenon and sometimes necessary in a long-term perspective; etc.) would require a mind quite free from prejudices, which is not exactly your case. I'll really stop here, because if there’s one thing you’re right about, it’s that I don’t even want to try – the predictability of your arguments (the same ones found in any tacky anticlerical pamphlet) drains every bit of polemical spirit. Au revoir.

My sarcasm was a way to address your vulgar jokes about Fabia (after all, I stopped - I couldn’t imagine you would carry on with that tone in every post, but here we are, c'est la vie). I didn’t respond to your little questions because I noticed too many blatant contradictions in your bigoted atheism. Anyway, I’ll answer you right away by saying that these things have always existed, and they are cyclical; and that the Church is not made up only of priests, but we would be getting into discussions too deep for a bigoted atheist to want to listen to. Anyway, we’ll just have to wait and see in 100 years who is right, won’t we? Cheers.
