Starting from these assumptions, one could then speak of a continuous dialogue and clash between a poetics of jarring caricature and a poetics of the ineffable and the symbol. Nonetheless, the lyricism, and someone like Brel, in my opinion, can still be felt even in such an alien album as TILT, as if Brel were singing over an industrial backing. Walker remains even more emphatic in the timbre of his voice; he has never abandoned this way of singing, he has only modernized the sound grain, in my opinion.
