Fryderyk Chopin Nocturnes - The Rubinstein Collection Vol.49

Last week on Fabio Fazio's show, Maurizio Pollini gave a very interesting interview that touched on some of the themes mentioned on this page. Among the most important concepts was certainly the emphasis on the importance of listening to music of this genre, because (quite simply) it does you good. Pollini also referred to the artistic value of jazz, which, in my opinion, does not have the respectful recognition you describe in public opinion. In fact, there are many who consider jazz equally pretentious, verbose, and boring as classical music, perhaps without ever having listened to anything of either. But returning to Pollini's interview, the discussion also touched on Chopin's perfectionism, of which Pollini today is one of the most recognized interpreters. All in all, it is certainly worth considering, even though I personally quite enjoy the interpretations of Maria João Pires, just to add another interpreter to the mix. Beautiful page.

How beautiful this page is, dense with details and technical readings of the execution. Among other things, it highlights the different perspective on musical language between the professionals and the audience, a topic that is always interesting and debated. I would love to know your opinion on other authors of art music as well. For example, if you have also listened to Lettera a Francis Bacon by Battistelli, it would be interesting to have a detailed opinion like the one you provided us. Hello.

I only "discovered" its existence a couple of years ago thanks to the advice of a friend somewhat similar to yours, though less prestigious. An incredible and unfortunate musician.
John Coltrane Meditations

Well, the live dimension being the natural outlet of jazz, of its living in the present, is something absolutely natural. Thus, all things considered, the effort you mention regarding the album is not unnatural. On the other hand, listening to a record allows for deeper exploration and indeed justifies the "effort." All in all, they are two concepts that complement each other without contradicting one another. Album: milestone. "First Meditations" shouldn't be the same thing, Dave, representing - I believe - the musical form of the pieces prior to the free turn, which is why "first." I liked the fact that you emphasized the spiritual aspect of Coltrane's music in your review. Bye.

But for heaven's sake... please do me a favor. I'm only reading enormous banality and equally immense nonsense of low value, absurdly assembled and now appropriately combined with a vulgarity of low caliber, very likely expressed by a "timid" anonymous "minus habens" who clearly has neither arguments nor a brain adequate to express them. Clear? Or do I need to draw you a picture? I hope not because I have no time to waste.

Punny, you might not be entirely wrong, however, in principle, perhaps it would be better to listen to the records before judging them, right? As far as I'm concerned, after a while I feel I can align with the judgment Kurz made about Einaudi's music (who remembers that?) and consequently, I traded the double CD of the concert at La Scala, kept Eden Roc and I Giorni, and the rest (including this one) are disposable handmade copies. We'll see what the future holds...

And I underline the Uhhhhhhhh, it’s needed. Well, anyway... Madeleine Peyroux indeed reminds me of her (the last album is cute too), just as in some ways, in a different realm, does Karen Dalton, perhaps even more than Peyroux... however, the similarity stops here, because Billie Holiday's interpretative ability was and is unreachable. There’s a particular suffering in her voice... Of course - as highlighted by sadeyedpocahontas - it’s really a bit sad to notice a few comments (and visits) on this page for the review of such an album and for an interpreter of Billie Holiday's caliber, it’s a real shame.

Everything is great: the review, the artists, definitely the album, and last but not least, the final quote from the interview with Pollini, bien!
