Let’s say that sentence might apply to many (but not to everyone), dear Odradek. Anyway, symbad, I had already skimmed that article vaguely some time ago, but I'll take another look, I promise :)

If I remember correctly, the idea of the book was summed up by the phrase: "Not as they were but as I imagine them." A philosophy, or rather an approach that fits well with this site odradek, don’t you think?

I hadn't seen this review; may the page of recent comments always be blessed. By the way, mentioning GYBE piques my curiosity quite a bit, along with the positive remarks. I'll make a note of it.
Morgan Non al denaro, non all'amore né al cielo

In a heart patient, for me, it gets a bit out of hand. De André told the story with detachment, like an observer, while Morgan gets too involved in the situation, overemphasizing things ("those on pearl-colored thighs" ... "that I kissed, for God, yes, I remember"). It's difficult to classify the best words in an album that has a unitary value; I am particularly attached to "Il suonatore Jones" because there's so much in that song that I wouldn't know how to summarize it. The same goes for the music. But do you know only this, or also the original work? If it's the first case, I recommend giving Faber's album a listen; it's worth it. Bye.

Everyone is closed off in themselves, you say; I think instead that "no man is an island, complete in himself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the whole." The door can only be tried to be closed, but perhaps that is a deception. But opening it is not easy; it requires dismantling certainties, and sometimes that is a bit frightening. As for the rest, I’ll only dwell on one thing: I notice we have a common enemy, boredom, which is why finding it on that page surprised me a bit. Hi :)

This time I didn't just laugh, but perhaps I also understood something :)))

Everything is beautiful in the reviews and comments... about Koln, I like the idea of the randomness of its genesis, everything went wrong that night, but in the end... if you haven't read Geoff Dyer's "natura morta con custodia di sax," symbad, you should pick it up, it’s a really beautiful book. I completely agree that "jazz purists" is an oxymoron. Bye :)
