THE REVIEW

Yet another Scandinavian, this time Swedish, offering us a remarkable album. Bremort is a concept album; it is an invented city within which things happen, people talk, complain, love, cry, all accompanied by sweet piano melodies, almost classical in style.

But it's not just a city, it's also noise, of cars, constructions, of who knows what. And it's also rhythm, sometimes sweet, sometimes wild. There are bells, helicopters, people whistling, all well mixed. It doesn't seem like the author wrote various things and then forcibly put them together; on the contrary, everything seems to proceed in the only possible way. I'm sorry not to understand what they are saying because it intrigues me; the voices change depending on the environment they are in, and it is very appreciable, with rooms more or less large where they assume very different, well-studied, and effective sonorities. There are several female voices, some reminiscent of smoky atmospheres à la Marlene Dietrich, others even further back, to small peripheral theaters of the twenties.

The general sensation is of moving from one scene to another, in an ideal immense theater, where various companies stage performances set in different periods, yet always twentieth-century. Electronics are well used, never overly annoying, very little guitar, much piano. Listening to the album is a beautiful experience to undertake naturally in solitude, letting oneself immerse in the proposed situations, just as when walking through a city passing by different venues, offices, shops, all permeated by a rarefied atmosphere that makes pleasant what in today's reality is practically a nightmare.
