I still don't understand why I don't know anything about this author, even though I've always been a big fan of Paolo Conte, whom I'm told he resembles a lot. Sooner or later, I’ll have to fill this gap, just as I did for Vinicio Capossela, another one considered an emulator of the Lawyer from Asti. Of course, the fact that he is better known in France than here (as is the Lawyer himself) doesn't make us look good.
Vasco Rossi Buoni o Cattivi anthology 04.05

A bit too much, but a well-deserved venting: now Vasco Rossi is missing only from Bruno Vespa (if he hasn't already been there) or on "Prova del cuoco" to show us how good he is at cooking. I was never a fan of his, but I admit that he did something decent in a past that's now quite far away. The 1 is a sign of respect and generally applies to the Vasco of recent years: obviously I haven't listened to and won't listen to this album, because life is short and time shouldn't be wasted.

Aeneas, you’re babbling, right? Bless Bublé who, the one making dollars by copying the OLD but STILL VALID Van Morrison? Yes, yes, you’re babbling. Or is it the Pietro Minchiadura that dwells within you that has taken the floor (but deep down, we all have a Pietro inside; the problem is that with that name, having it inside can hurt)?

Esteemed de-reviewer of carriage wreckers, your refined humor and eloquent language entirely contradict the seemingly brutal coarseness of your nickname. Both (referring to humor and language) are by no means as cloying as you modestly claim, so much so that I am shamelessly attempting to imitate them. Indeed, they (again, referring to humor and language) represent one of the most appealing aspects for the ever-growing visitors to this exalted site, provided they have been thoughtfully endowed by Mother Nature with a commendable level of wit. Wit that, as you will agree with me, the entire globe as well as the electronic microcosm of debaser are in increasingly urgent need of. I greet you and return your honors.
Elton John Tumbleweed Connection

Review that was sneakily brought to my attention (it was among my next 4-5 on the list) but so skillfully done that the regret is minimal. An album devoid of "hits," as the cover notes say, but in this case, it’s really not a drawback. It’s the album as a whole that is stunning, teetering between a fictional Wild West and the extraordinary melodic vein of Sir Reginald from those days. Pure delight: the album and the review.
Edgar Varèse The Complete Works
Voto:
I do not deny the historical importance of this composer and his influences on every musical genre, but I’ll speak plainly: every time I’ve tried to listen to him, I’ve fled in terror from his "organized sound," brilliant from an innovative standpoint, but absolutely indigestible to my ears. But I don’t claim to be right: even in classical music I am quite "conservative" and cannot detach myself from my beloved Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Brahms, etc.

What to add? Just one thing: it's a shame we saw them only ten years later (Invisible Touch tour, 1987), when the technique was still phenomenal but the thrills of this concert were only what we could imagine.
Bruce Springsteen Darkness On The Edge Of Town

I too continue to not understand the hostility towards Bruce Springsteen, including that (unintentional) of those who write a telegram about a masterpiece like this.

Massimof, wait for me and I will arrive. When I say that the most balanced judgment was given by Ale, I mean "for me." I don't pretend to provide certificates of equilibrium with absolute and incontrovertible value. If I listened to the reasons of my heart, considering how many associations of ideas this album can trigger in me, I too would give it a solid 5, but I’ve tried to evaluate it in its nakedness. Given how many you are, it’s likely that you "five-ers" are right (for what it’s worth to be right). Likely, but not certain. As for the rest, Ale himself has already answered you (too bad always in gray).

Dear Enea, the most balanced statement came from Ale, it's a pity it appeared in gray: "However, analyzing it rationally, from a strictly musical point of view, one can't certainly say it's a masterpiece." Then he let his heart take over. I, however, usually analyze as rationally as I can and then translate into grades, for what the miserable Debaserian abacus can offer: so great album but not a masterpiece for me = 4. For once we disagree, there's nothing wrong with that. It had to happen sooner or later. The important thing is that you don't declare yourself hurt: my Gandhian peace-loving spirit wouldn't tolerate it. Surprised, maybe yes, hurt, no, that would be something. But now what do I do, since I can't hold this discussion until Monday morning at 8?
