    I'm a big fan of Fossati, so I might be giving a somewhat subjective opinion. Between vinyl records, cassettes, and CDs, I have everything by Fossati, and I know it all by heart. Let's say his golden period, at least for me, starts in 1988 with "La pianta del tè" and ends in 2003 with "Lampo viaggiatore." He didn't miss a beat during that time. The three previous albums "Le città di frontiera" (83), "Ventilazione" (84), "700 giorni" (86) and the three subsequent ones "L'arcangelo" (06), "Musica moderna" (08), and "Decadancing" (11) may not be at their peak, but they are close. Before "Le città di frontiera," aside from a few standout moments, he wasn't particularly exceptional, although he still maintained fairly high standards.

    With "La casa del Serpente," RCA wanted to make a new Baglioni! Instead, I listened to "La mia banda" and "Panama," and even "La casa del Serpente" itself. I believe Mina and Anna Oxa also covered a couple of tracks from this album. But I also appreciate "Le città di frontiera" (even the one, hated by Ivano, "I ragazzi cattivi") and "Ventilazione." With the subsequent works of the '80s, he combines inspiration and originality, forging his style. As an author for others, he is indisputable ("Pensiero stupendo," "Un'emozione da poco," and "Non sono una signora")!
Ivano Fossati: Good-bye Indiana

One of the albums that convinces me the least by Fossati, still unripe and too "American," so to speak (starting with the horrible cover). However... here we also find spine-chilling tracks like "Il grano e la luna," "Where is paradise," and especially "Storie per farmi amare," so I can't give it less than 3.5. Then, with the next album "La casa del serpente," Ivano will start to show what he's made of.
Overall, this remains the album that convinces me the least; I still find it too immature and not particularly inspired, but there are still some gems. Almost 3.5

    For me, this is the best of the whites. I don't deny that all white albums have their own form of originality, from the strange mystical blend of orchestrations and electronics in Don Giovanni, the dance philosophy in Hegel, and finally CSAR. This album is as unique in Battisti's discography as it is in the entire Italian music scene: among cryptic lyrics that I like to see connected together to form a sort of concept and arrangements that span techno, rap, dance, rock, and pop that Battisti has never experimented with and will never experiment with at these levels.

    Personally, when I evaluate an album, I try not to consider the artist's discography; otherwise, the judgment would be heavily influenced by what the artist has done before, leading to a comparison between albums that can be both useful and useless. Take, for example, Bugie by Dalla: let's imagine it as the only album Dalla ever released. If considered in isolation, it sounds like an average album from the 80s, with sprinkles of a plastic pop that barely make it sufficient. However, if you think of it as a Dalla album, the same artist who has produced fantastic albums, you can't accept it, and therefore the rating will be even lower (yes, I’ve also gone through this reasoning for Bugie, which I would honestly rate a 5.5).

    Ah! I have read things that have delighted me and things that have saddened me (I'll just quote one: "Tango episodio trascurabile"... a criminal phrase when I think of all the times I am moved when I hear the beautiful ending with Morena, who, beautiful and kissed by the sun, happily plays her violin), but I’ll get right to the point about the subject, which is nothing more than the judgment on this controversial album by Dalla. You praise it, and rightly so, but I don’t consider it the best of the Roversi trilogy. The reason lies in its incompleteness: this album is a fragmented version of what it was supposed to be in the intentions of the two Bolognese, with two pieces that were cut by RCA for being deemed "heterogeneous" and the order of the remaining six tracks completely overturned. Perhaps I'm influenced by my knowledge of this subtext, but I have a vivid sense of incompleteness when I listen to it. Simply put, the duration is short, and the number of tracks is sparse: every time I finish listening, it feels like I'm left high and dry, waiting for a logical and sequential conclusion. Therefore, I prefer a more cohesive work that sticks to its intentions, like Anidride Solforosa from the year before, and I certainly wonder what this album would have been if RCA hadn't disrupted the process and had returned it to us in its entirety: perhaps at that point it would rightly have been the best of the triad and one of the undisputed peaks of Bolognese music.

The album that marks, at least for me, the end of Lucio's golden era. This and the previous "1983" are two perfect dividing lines between the "old" Dalla (71-81) and the "new" Dalla (86-09). Malavasi, starting from this point onward, will increasingly operate in the electronic realm, bringing a refined tecno-pop that is in step with the times but not always palatable to everyone and, to be honest, it doesn’t sweep me off my feet either. I still remain firmly attached to Dalla 71-81, but even this one remains an excellent album. Lyrics that are still fully Dalla's, with standouts like "Toro," "Aquila," "Washington," and the title track. Between 4 and 4.5.

    I'm getting tired of saying that for me this is Dalla's masterpiece. But it's also understandable that someone who is attached to Lucio from the 70s might find this album inferior to the previous ones. That Dalla shaped at least three decades of generations. Unfortunately, I was born in a musically chaotic era, where radical changes would occur in that sector. Singer-songwriters were giving way to rappers in the mainstream. All this to say that what Dalla did in the 70s is not bad and has aged wonderfully, but albums like Viaggi organizzati are closer to future generations than people think, even at the expense of the quality of the work itself.

    To me, it really bothers @Martello, so I confirm that this album "does not overwhelm me." And I’ll add: on a debaserian scale, it’s worth a little over 3 out of 5 (as if to say it’s simply a decent album).

    @[Eneathedevil] naaah, 3/5 seems low! 3/5 goes to "Bugie," "Cambio," and "Henna," records that aren't exceptional but leave scattered gems here and there. Here, arrangements aside, there are several perfect pieces. Copy and paste for "1983" (even if the latter still had more "singer-songwriter" arrangements, so to speak).

    I place 1983 on the same level as Cambio circa. Brilliantly arranged, of course, but some of the lyrics are hard for me to digest. I find Pecorella and Noi come voi, for example, quite clichéd, as well as Solo. However, there are gems, starting with the title track and going all the way to L'altra parte del mondo. Let's say it's almost a 4-star album.

    Then I must say that this album is overshadowed by the unfortunate judgment on the title track. I first heard it in the live version from Dallamericaruso, only to discover the original on the album I bought a while later: in the live version, it was much more energetic, less "yawning" than in its studio counterpart, with an outro that curiously echoed the theme of Com'è profondo il mare. Of course, I was influenced by the order of my listens, but damn, if Dalla had proposed that version on the album, then everything would have taken a different turn, in my view.

    They are two albums quite different from each other, but in the end, I think they are worth the same. I would give them a 7.5. "Cambio" and "Henna" a 6.5 (maybe give "Henna" a 7 for kindness), "Bugie" a 6/6.5. After "Henna," there will be "Canzoni" (score 5.5 just for a couple of decent tracks), then "Ciao," "Luna matana," "Lucio," "Il contrario di me," which are worth no more than 2.5/3, and finally "Angoli nel cielo," which deserves a stretched 6.5.

    Of course, because it’s a matter of values. For me, Dalla hasn’t done “9 things.” Battisti did, who in my opinion was on a higher step. I’d give a 9 to Com'è profondo il mare, but I’m not sure what I should give to Anima latina, for example.

    It's the last fully salvable album by Lucio. Then nothingness, or perhaps a little more. Moreover, if you think about it, many singer-songwriters in 1984 stopped making Music with a capital M; besides Dalla, I think of Bennato, Daniele, Vecchioni, Venditti, Graziani, Finardi...

    @[Alemarcon] I don't completely agree, for me Dalla managed to stay at a good level until '93 (even though his golden period ends in '84), the same goes for Daniele (his in '85, with "Ferryboat"). Vecchioni will take some hits after '84, but in '93 with "Blumùn" he will manage to bounce back completely, releasing several excellent albums and a masterpiece ("Il cielo capovolto," '95).
    For me, Venditti's golden era ends in '82 with "Sotto la pioggia," although he manages to maintain a decent level until "In questo mondo di ladri." The same applies to Bennato, whose golden era ended in '83 ("È arrivato un bastimento"), but he holds on until '87 ("OK Italia"). Graziani has always managed to stay at a decent level (it's true that after his self-titled album from '83 he declined a bit, but he remains consistently adequate). I haven't followed Finardi after "Dal blu," so I couldn't tell you.

    Are you kidding me? It's a beautiful song, but Dalla wrote at least another 15-20 songs, both before and after, that people easily tuck away (off the top of my head: "La casa in riva al mare," "Il motore del 2000," "Nuvolari," "Come è profondo il mare," "Quale allegria," "Anna e Marco," "L'ultima luna," "La sera dei miracoli," "Cara," "Futura," "1983," "Le rondini," and I probably forgot a few more).
    But us Italians are like that; we love Lucio Dalla for "Caruso," De Gregori for "La donna cannone," De André for "La canzone di Marinella," Venditti for "Notte prima degli esami," Battiato for "La cura," Pino Daniele for "Quando," etc., etc... it's just how it is.

    On those pieces by Dalla, I still completely disagree. They’re nice, yes, but under Caruso. Among the artists you mentioned, I only agree on Pino and Faber (who indeed wrote better things than those pieces). The others, absolutely not. Come on, are you seriously telling me that Notte prima degli esami, La cura, La donna cannone are overrated?????? Let’s not say silly things, come on...

    "Notte prima degli esami" is less than the others (I consider it a masterpiece), but it is. Venditti has written "Sora Rosa," "Le cose della vita," "Le tue mani su di me," "Campo de' fiori," "L'amore non ha padroni," "Compagno di scuola," "Lo stambecco ferito," "Canzone per Seveso," "Sotto il segno dei pesci," "Bomba o non bomba," "Giulia," "Modena," "Eleonora," "Qui"... all pieces that are superior to "Notte...".
    "La donna cannone," also wonderful, is absurdly overrated. De Gregori has written "Le strade di lei," "Saigon," "Bene," "Giorno di pioggia," "Pezzi di vetro," "Le storie di ieri," "Pablo," "Bufalo Bill," "Disastro aereo...," "Generale," "Canta canta," "La storia," "A pà," "Mimì sarà," "Cose," "Un guanto," "Il cuoco di Salò" (and I've definitely forgotten something), all pieces that put "La donna cannone" in its place.
    Battiato likewise: he has done better things (all "Fetus" and "Pollution," "Stranizza d'amuri," "Up patriots..," "Radio Varsavia," "Veni l'autunnu," "Fisiognomica," "I giardini della preesistenza," etc., etc.).
    You think that way, I don't agree but I respect your tastes.

For me too, the last listenable album by Dalla. It also manages to be slightly better than the previous "Cambio," a bit more inspired, and it particularly benefits from the absence of the chart-friendly track (the various "Attenti al lupo," "Canzone," "Ciao," and so on). 3.5

Unfortunately, we are at the beginning of the decline here. Some shadow of the giant Dalla still exists, and overall it's not a terrible album, but the inspiration is greatly reduced. Furthermore, the most famous single (of course "Se io fossi un angelo") turns out to be the least successful. 5.5/6
