Wishbone Ash: Argus
File Audio I have it ★★★
An interesting record, if nothing else for Time Was.

one of the first examples of twin guitars, even before so much clanging metal.

I’ve always liked it a lot... it’s probably true that they have been a role model for all the English double guitar NWOBHM bands. However, when I think of a band with twin guitars, the first name that always comes to mind is the Rolling Stones (even though, of course, in a different context).
  • I love them.
However, I have never shared that widespread opinion that sees "Argus" as the group's masterpiece or, at the very least, as the only one worthy of mention. The Ash have produced (so far, they are still active) around twenty studio albums, which I proudly own almost in their entirety. Well, better and sometimes much better than Argus, at least to me, are the following:
    _Pilgrimage, from 1971
    _New England, from 1976
    _Just Testing, from 1980
    _Illuminations from 1996 (masterpiece!)
    _Blue Horizon from 2014

Band reassessed, very good. But I'm part of the "Argus" party as their best album, eh eh.

In reality, I am still a disciple of the Finkbrau, which has apparently returned to Lidl, because it is a Cult that cannot be extinguished with a mere commercial sleight of hand. Don't think! Finkbrauuuuuuu!
