Best live ever...
The Beatles: Abbey Road
File Audio I have it ★★★★★
It may not be innovative, but it remains a milestone. The masterpiece of the Beatles, who receive a recognition they truly deserve, despite their lack of creativity compared to others.
The second masterpiece of the Beatles, not their best. I don’t know what the hell goes through Rolling Stone’s mind to call it the greatest album of all time, but it remains a masterpiece nonetheless. "A Day In The Life" speaks for itself.

Beautiful that song, I also love Lucy in the skies with diamonds. I still struggle to love the Beatles, I appreciate "Rubber Soul", the sergeant, and "Abbey Road" (an absolute masterpiece, the last one I mentioned).

Personally, I appreciate them all, even the less beloved Good Morning and the ending of Sgt. Pepper.

Good Morning is the only one that leaves me almost indifferent.

I bought the vinyl in a little shop in Budapest for the equivalent of €6... Great record. PA PA PA PAAAAGUD MORNIN, GUD MORNIN, GUD MORNIN!
The Doors: Strange Days

Second masterpiece in a row for the Doors. Memorable "People Are Strange" and otherworldly "Moonlight Drive."
The Doors: The Doors
File Audio I have it ★★★★★
The Doors, or rather, the best possible debut album
The Gun Club: The Fire Of Love
File Audio I have it ★★★★★
Space disco, seemingly raw like punk, but refined like nothing else. With that theatrical atmosphere, sometimes one must bow down...

There is a finely managed bottleneck guitar, which makes the atmosphere of the album even more "mocking", if you will. Like the bitter ending of a thriller.
The Rolling Stones: Exile On Main Street
File Audio I have it ★★★★★
Despite continuing to prefer Sticky Fingers, I greatly appreciate the work done by the Rolling Stones in Exile On Main St., where they managed to create a blend of several different genres (rock and roll, country, soul, gospel), without falling into clichés that have been seen and revisited time and again.

For the love of God, Sticky is a great album... but Exile is the greatest ever recorded, and I'm not the only one who thinks so.

It's a matter of taste. It's not the best album ever; there are infinitely better ones.
The Rolling Stones: Sticky Fingers
File Audio I have it ★★★★★
Although I also love "Exile On Main St.", I've always preferred the essential "Sticky Fingers," a compact, gritty, and sunny album at the same time. "Sticky Fingers" remains the best album by the Rolling Stones, in a period of grace.

How to Reinvent Rock - Part 2
Ingredients:
John Cale on his keys, the undisputed leader with the organ
Lou Reed and his distorted guitars
Maureen Tucker, a female drummer with the expressive power of a man
Here are the ingredients of one of the dirtiest, rawest, and most seminal albums ever. Mix them well, and you will have what may seemingly appear to be a sonic chaos.
A punk, new wave, rock and roll, raga rock, noise rock album from 1967. Simply history.

I dare a shot.. Among all the albums of '67, it's the best for me. Diverse, "new," strange, and cocky. And then there's Heroin.

It's not a gamble, rather, even though my favorite from that year remains the debut of the Doors.

Yes, and even Sgt. Pepper agrees. '67 was a fantastic year (Hendrix), but in my opinion, this was truly unexpected. And then it makes you dream... When I bought it, I put it on one morning as soon as I woke up and it really felt like I was dreaming again. Indescribable.
The Who: Tommy
File Audio I have it ★★★★★
One of the greatest masterpieces of The Who and rock music as a whole. This rock opera excels both in the core idea of Tommy's story and musically, where Townshend reaches incredible heights. A thousand leagues above The Wall.
The Who: Who's Next

The ultimate musical peak of The Who, featuring the greatest rock song of all time, Baba O' Riley.

this one is also wonderful.. how it transitions from the initial delicacy to the riffs and then back to the initial leitmotiv..

The Who: My Generation

It would be a 4-star album, but then My Generation comes in to round it off...
The Who: Live at Leeds

A breathtaking live performance, perfect, simple, without particular flaws or inaccuracies, well-polished, solid, rigid, fluid... one of those moments when a live show can make rock history.
Tim Buckley: Goodbye and Hello

It may not be a masterpiece like "Happy Sad," "Lorca," and "Starsailor," but what an album!!

it's a masterpiece on par with the others, for me...
Tim Buckley: Lorca

Impossibly dark record, with the title track creating unimaginable distress... Another masterpiece from Tim Buckley.
Tim Buckley: Happy Sad

Sweet, delicate, romantic but, above all, a MASTERPIECE
Tom Waits: Rain Dogs

Perhaps more grotesque than "Swordfishtrombones," but we’re still talking about Tom Waits... this is an absolute masterpiece as well (right after his grand predecessor).
Tom Waits: Franks Wild Years

The most theatrical side of Tom Waits, who increasingly proves to be a complete artist, capable of always creating something new and never falling into clichés... immense, as always...

In 1990, together with theater director Robert Wilson and with the collaboration of none other than Burroughs, he created the show "Black Rider," in my opinion his best theatrical work (then in 1993, one of his best albums, definitely the most challenging). I'm telling you this because maybe on YouTube you can still find some clips of that show. Oh, it’s performed in German, but it's cool to hear the songs sung by the actors in their original context.

I have never found any trace of this show, all written by Brennan, and Tommasone, nor of the other two with Wilson :(

I knew that Tommasone was also a film/theater actor (even though I've never seen his movies)... he is something indefinable... my god, he is multifaceted...

Movie actor, yes, let's say he's an excellent character actor. Theatrical, no, only a writer (especially and mainly of the songs in the shows, which then compose the story). He made his film debut in the late '70s in a Stallone movie. He's always balanced between small parts and more memorable roles. The first important role and perhaps the best performance is alongside friends John Lurie (another great musician, my dear) and Roberto Benigni in "Daunbailò" by Jim Jarmusch in 1986. The film is indeed enriched by Lurie's music and his "Jockey Full of Bourbon" during the opening titles. Other significant performances can be found in "Bram Stoker's Dracula" by Coppola (an excellent Renfield), in "America Oggi" by Altman (one of my favorite films), or even as the devil himself in Parnassus by Terry Gilliam. But there are others ;)

Incredible, but what can't Tommasone do?
Tom Waits: Swordfishtrombones
File Audio I have it ★★★★★
Initially, I was hesitant and traumatized by this grotesque atmosphere. Little by little, it turned out to be one of the greatest albums of all time, which made me discover the genius of Mr. Tom Waits.
Tom Waits: Blue Valentine
File Audio I have it ★★★★★
Moving, yet at the same time experimental, as if foretelling Swordfishtrombones. Majestic.
Tool: Lateralus

The feeling one gets from listening to this album is the same as when solving an algebraic problem. You have to analyze it thoroughly to understand its greatness. A mammoth album, scientifically perfect.
Townes Van Zandt: Our Mother the Mountain

Memorable. Stunning album by a little-known singer-songwriter, but one that produces a masterpiece.

And the beauty is that in that very year, 1969, he released another album that almost matches this one (I'm referring to the self-titled one).
