Neil Young: Tonight's the Night
Vinile I have it ★★★★★
I have no doubts. I love many of Neil's albums to death, but this one remains at the top of my favorites list. Black as pitch. Beautiful.

for me, on par with Everybody Knows... and Rust Never Sleeps, this remains unique though, also because of the spirit in which it was recorded...

I, on the other hand, love Harvest. Tonight's the night is, for me, second only to Harvest.

Wonder of wonders on double vinyl... The album that pushed me to rediscover a band that I wouldn't say I snubbed, but to which I didn't give the attention it deserved, damn me...

The only one from Neurosis that I haven't listened to yet. Impossible to find. I've tried several times to order it in stores, and they always tell me it's unavailable. I guess I’ll have to resort to Amazon...

A friend gifted it to me a few months ago on vinyl. Really, you can't find it?? Go on Discogs! It's a masterpiece. In my opinion, it's perhaps their greatest album! The most expansive, psychedelic...
Neurosis: Through Silver in Blood

And what the hell is there to say? A long, exhilarating psychic torture. Pure masochism... Milestone
A classic example of an album that everyone seems to love regardless, but to me, it doesn't seem all that amazing. A pleasant little record of "Indie Pop" played with a Folk band setup. The reputation this album has would be better suited for those two masterpieces by Olivia Tremor Control, while still staying within the Elephant 6 realm.

At first listen, I liked it a lot, but it quickly fell off for me. Now it's just yawns. I would say a 3 is the right score, yet the title track is truly a masterpiece.
Hellish

I can tolerate Nick Cave up to "Tender Prey", skipping "Kicking Against....." which I don’t like. After that, he bores me a lot; it’s always the same script, a nice film watched too many times.

Same here... then I also started to feel it decline quite a bit. Once the drugs were gone, something was lost, haha.

I agree about the album in question (immense) but less about the rest. You guys are too (im)puritanical :D

ashahahah, it's true HJ...even if I might have expressed myself poorly. Because I really like Murder Ballads and the piano agony of The Boatman's Call. However, then it really starts to bore me from Nocturama onwards. I did like Grinderman though :D

Nocturama has only one beautiful track. The first Grinderman was pleasant but a bit too "unspontaneous" for my taste. I agree about Cave post '97; he has declined for me too, in this sense the best is indeed the last one, which I find excellent. Anyway, the peak for me is from 1980 to 1988; there Cave cannot be beaten, both with Birthday and Bad Seeds, and I think this here might be my favorite, all the madness of Birthday but more mature and entirely poured into the mephitic blues.

Is the latest one really that beautiful? I've heard good things about it, but I still haven't gotten around to it... you know what, I'll give it a listen, alright...

ps Grinderman the first, yes... I've never listened to the second.

The second Grinderman was really nothing special, the gas tank was empty. The last one is the best since 1997, even though it's not a masterpiece. Anyway, give it a try.

Knockin on Joe is the absolute pinnacle of the bad seeds.

And to think that when I bought it, I didn't like it at all... now, along with from her, it's my absolute favorite! Screw murder ballads (which, after all, is a good album)...

My favorite along with the debut. After that, I didn't keep up with Cave. To me, he rhymes with The Birthday Party. It's a matter of taste.

I take all of the Australian's discography, including the multiple collaborations in soundtracks and countless secondary projects, and I keep it as an absolute and precious gem of my musical knowledge. The album mentioned by my dear fellow countryman remains one of his greatest and most twisted masterpieces… the title of the work is spine-chilling!!!!

Guys, yes, the Birthday Party were from another planet.. to say that I adore them is an understatement, and "Prayers On Fire" is one of those records that makes your brains bleed.. Regarding the bad seeds, nothing to say, "From Her To Eternity", this one and "Your Funeral, My Trial" are equally hellish and essential for me. Then it doesn't excite me like it used to, but up until "The Boatman's Call" anyway, great class...

Personally, I absolutely love Tender Prey, probably for sentimental reasons.

But "Tender Prey" is a huge record too. It's truly immense, just like the previous one and the Birthdays. But I’m one of those who barely listen to three Cave albums in total.

I gladly throw away "Nocturama" (oh god, after buying it, so not that gladly…). Let's say from there on, something broke definitively. I liked the first self-titled album by Grinderman, even though it’s certainly not up to the levels of the good old days. The fact is, Nicolino Caverna and his friends, both the ones from the birthday party and the semi-bad ones, will always remain in my heart.
