Oh well: not bad, I can’t stand Korn, I know Blur very little, Red Hot don’t excite me one way or the other just like Pearl Jam, while I want to revisit Alice and Soundgarden pretty soon. I’m really fond of the Elio e le Storie Tese and I agree about the great Faith No More, Mr. Bungle (which I need to add too) and Primus. J. Buckley is cool too. A few recommendations: Fugazi, My Bloody Valentine, Slint, Tom Waits' Bone Machine ('92), Motorpsycho, Morphine, and if you’re familiar with what they did in the '70s and '80s, I’d say King Crimson as well. But there’s a ton of stuff from the '90s that I still need to listen to, so these recommendations are just to get started.

Yes, indeed, I already have a few names in mind but I need to decide where to place them. However, the beauty of Korn in the '90s is directly proportional to their ugliness in the '00s. The first one is a masterpiece of dissonance, absolutely insane. Fugazi are on the list, of the others you mentioned I only agree with Waits. I recommend you listen to One Hot Minute by RHCP, considered their worst by others, it's their gem to me. And Pearl Jam, who made their best albums when the grunge trend was already over (listen to Binaural and No Code). Blur are the only decent thing to come out of britpop. Thanks for the tips.

A few recommendations: Tool, Dillinger Escape Plan, Radiohead, Mogwai, and my all-time favorites Deftones. Nothing else comes to mind for now... anyway, keep it up! ; )

@Noisel. I need to dive deeper into Tool; I only know a handful of their songs, but I was thinking of downloading Aenima. Radiohead should definitely be included, but my favorite of theirs came out in the new millennium (Kid A). I know a little about Mogwai as well. I can't stand Deftones; it's just beyond me. Dillinger is too extreme. The heaviest stuff I've ever gotten into is actually the debut album by Korn. Or maybe something from Slipknot when I was foolish. To give you an idea... I like metal, but the slow and syncopated kind, more than anything. Thanks for the suggestions!

@Fabbio I understand, I understand. So as a final piece of advice, I'll leave you with Coal Chamber, explosive and twisted rage similar to the early Korn.

I would also include the Dirty Three (if you don't know them, listen to Ocean Songs).

I know them and I recognize their talent. But the few songs I had listened to didn't appeal to me much. A bit like with Primus, where until two years ago I would say, "what the hell is wrong with the way the guy sings?" and now I've placed them eighth (even though Tommy The Cat still annoys me). Maybe in a few months I'll listen to DT again and love them to bits. Who knows...
