iTunes has done much of the work

Fantastic!!! I know the groups in the second part much better, but it's sublime, almost all of it.

For now, I can think of two that you didn't include, but maybe they're not your style... Placebo, "Without You I Am Nothing" and Liz Phair, "Exile in Guyville." I notice there are no Italians and I respect the choice. In the realm of extreme dub, Vae Solis by Scorn would fit, but it might be a bit out of place. While maybe "Pardon My French" by Fuck (but I don't have it) and that one by Fatboy Slim would definitely stand out.

All stuff I'm not familiar with, except for Liz Phair and Placebo, who, as you said, aren't really my vibe.

I don't think Scorn would be out of place since there's a bit of everything in this chart.

Since you went hard by mentioning the gigantic Scorn, I'll throw in the Metal realm "Demanufacture" by Fear Factory. An album decades ahead, already in 1995, and still an unmatched masterpiece of bone-crushing Cyber-Thrash.
    • Psychopathia
      28 nov 15
@[Loconweed] fatboy slim, you have come a long way babe, it came out in '98 and it's still so much fun! Give it a listen! @de...marga... I can't seem to tag you, I wanted to say that demanufacture is a great album.

Here’s what’s missing: metal; which is a field I must admit I don’t know much about, except for the names of certain metal bands that I don't even know how to define: like Neurosis, Ulver.

Then something I have on iTunes might have slipped my mind.
    • De...Marga...
      28 nov 15
Just last night, Fear Factory played in Milan and if I read correctly, they performed ALL of Demanufacture to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of its release. If I think that it's been twenty years... damn it.

Loconweed, trust an ex Metalhead like me: in the extreme realm, you can't miss Death and their masterpiece from 1991, "Human." Then I'd add Napalm Death's "Utopia Banished" (1992) and Morbid Angel's "Covenant" (1993). Give them a listen, but proceed with caution because they're three MONSTROUS albums...
    • Psychopathia
      28 nov 15
I just saw that I have been preceded. Yes, I also think that human by Death is essential and of blinding beauty.
    • Loconweed

so many great suggestions, some were already on the list for future listening. What should I have included from Italian? I mean besides rap and "Le Nuvole"...
    • Psychopathia
      28 nov 15
Gothic line of the CSI. Maybe you're scared of the dark of the afterhours. For example, I don't really like Marlene. Ah, Solaris by Kirlian Camera is a great album.
    • Loconweed
      28 nov 15
here Gothic Line is one of those that slipped away from me; "are you afraid of the dark" has some nice parts but loses its impact as a whole; I agree on the Marlenes

      Solari, never heard of it.

Dear Margone, you just reminded me that I forgot (fìk) the Fear Factory concert! I've seen them about 5/6 times, but I really wanted to catch all of Demanufacture "in face," damn.

I haven't seen the God Machine (so expect the certain arrival of tia who will "pull your ears").
  • Dan Erre
    28 nov 15
I don't expect you to include "Achtung babe" by U2, given your completely different tastes... But "Blood" by This Mortal Coil, a high-level 4AD for me...

    • Loconweed
      28 nov 15
You said well about U2, I’ll try to listen to TMC again since I don’t know them well. There’s a lot I don’t know, especially due to my age.
    • Loconweed
      28 nov 15
I knew This Mortal Coil by name and only fleetingly on YouTube.
    • Dan Erre

They were a 4AD meteor, part of the Miranda Sex Garden collective...

Ok, well, I’ll write you a bit about what’s missing (at least that’s what it seems to me, I’m a bit tipsy) Kula Shaker, Nirvana, Afghan Whigs, Blur, Porcupine Tree, Ride, R.e.m., Swans, Beck, Butthole Surfers, Soundgarden, Truly, Mad Season, Pulp, Pearl Jam, Alanis Morissette I'll stop for now.

    • Loconweed
      29 nov 15
I'm not claiming to be the creator of an all-encompassing ranking (what words am I using?!), the fact is that some of those you mentioned don't fit my tastes and therefore are unlikely to find a place, at least currently, in the ranking; who knows what the future holds....
  • Dan Erre
    28 nov 15
Maybe also a "Henry's Dream" by Nick Cave...

  • fuggitivo
    29 nov 15
Even if it's not first, I'm very pleased to see Under Glass at the top. But... no Dadamah?

    • Loconweed
      29 nov 15
@[fuggitivo] needs to be updated because there are many names I'm not familiar with yet or I accidentally skipped from iTunes.
  • Loconweed
    29 nov 15
So the ranking will obviously be updated every time I make new interesting discoveries. Thanks for the suggestions.

Advice on musical proposals from Italian origin would be appreciated.

But in the end, did you find those damn Supreme Dicks that I should have placed there? :D
    • Loconweed
      29 nov 15
@[hjhhjij] yes, but not through soulseek (thanks anyway)

the blog where I found them is this if you're interested I Hate The 90s

    • proggen_ait94

I don't know, it seems obvious to me that you know the '90s very well... maybe Cerberus Shoal, Homb is magnificent.
    • Loconweed
      30 nov 15
It's definitely the musical decade (even though I've never really liked the idea of thinking in decades) that I appreciate the most; however, there are many things I miss. Like the one you mentioned.

I’m responding here to the listening session, precluding that I haven’t read any of the comments above, so I might be repeating some stuff, who knows. Here’s what I’d definitely throw in:

    - Soul Coughing "Ruby Vroom"
    - Faith No More "Angel Dust"
    - Mr. Bungle "Mr. Bungle"
    - Death "Symbolic"
    - Underworld "Dubnobasswithmyhead"
    - Guru "Jazzmatazz"
    - Moonshake "Eva Luna"
    - Us3 "Hand on the Torch"
    - Strapping Young Lad "City"
    - Bran Van 3000 "Glee"
    - Alice in Chains "Dirt"
    - Amon Tobin "Bricolage"
    - The Black Heart Procession "2"
    - Cop Shoot Cop "Ask Questions Later"
    - Jesus Lizards "Goat"
    - Today is the Day "Willpower"
    - Rollins Band "End of Silence"
    - Helmet "Meantime"
    - Nick Cave "Good Son"
    - Tool "Aenima"
    - Acid Mothers Temple "Pataphisical Freakout of MU!"

    - Melvins "Lysol"
    - Sleep "Jerusalem"
    - Plastikman "Musik"
    - Sepultura "Roots"
What came to mind I just threw down spontaneously; maybe we can discuss it again. Great ranking overall, I would gladly recommend it!

I reread my comment and damn, I have just as much more to throw out there, like:
    - Fishbone "Reality of My Surroundings"
    - Grotus "Slowmotion Apocalypse"
    - Roni Size "New Forms"
    - Electric Wizard "Come My Fanatics"
    - Eat Static "Implant"
    - Dogbowl "Cyclops Nuclear Submarine Captain"
    - Distorted Pony "Punishment Room"
    - Deconstruction "Deconstruction"
    - Carcass "Nectroticism"
    - Tortoise "TNT"
    - Therapy? "Nurse"
    - Temple of The Dog "Temple of the Dog"
That's enough, I repeat: maybe we'll talk about it again in a few days or who knows when. Also because naturally some are more suitable than others (clearly), and leaving them so vacant just hurts. Cheers!

You might like Djam Karet? (random name, I don’t think I see them) don’t let the label "prog rock" fool you, they actually have more in common with Steve Roach than with Genesis.
