Making a ranking like this without including Muddy Waters is outrageous. Elmore James was inspired by him.

We miss Johnny Winter, Skip James, Robert Cray, James Cotton, T-Bone Walker, Ray Charles, Robben Ford... We're missing quite a few... People who definitely should be here! The faded bluesman at the top of the charts anyway, but not really!

read what I wrote above, it's an absolutely subjective ranking! I don't think these are the absolute best, I think they are my absolute favorites and he is untouchable for me. the ones you mentioned I won't include simply because I've probably only listened to a couple of songs from each and I don’t feel like making a lengthy list just to show that I know 20,000 names! ;)

No Cornell, you misinterpreted! I know that I have a somewhat aggressive way of communicating, but I was really just laying out my ideas to discuss them. I put the silly wink at the end of the sentence to show complicity! Hahaha
P.S. By the way, if you touch Clapton again, I'll cut off your head, keep it in the fridge, and probably make an ashtray out of the scalp! Hahaha

take it easy chiamaskio, the only one here who has the guts for violent threats is me. nice ranking. hasn’t anyone come to say that bbking is overrated yet? if someone shows up to say it, it will be the usual underground loser fixated on silly stuff, so smash his face in, I give you permission, because bb king is a PHENOMENON AND DESERVES RESPECT!!!

Pirate, sorry for stealing your role as facebreaker for a moment, but sometimes I also snap. No one has come to tell me that B.B. King is overrated yet, but I was already told yesterday in another ranking! (someone had the courage to place him 47th). BB is a fucking monster of blues and guitar, you don't touch him!

However, about Rory Gallagher, when you say you don’t know any other Irish musicians, is it a joke to say he’s just that superior, or do you really not know any others? Because there’s Gary Moore, who was also Irish. Personally, between Gallagher and Moore, I undoubtedly choose Gallagher, but Gary was also very good.

Pirate, go check out my ranking of guitarists. Do you really think I don't know Gary Moore? He's one of the best, damn it! It was just a joke to hype him up...

ah here it is, indeed. Well done chimaskio! Keep it up, you are one of the few here with GOOD TASTE! and this could earn you MY RESPECT!!! But I'll be keeping an eye on you. DON'T SLACK, I recommend.

I just wanted to say that BB King brought Alex Britt with him to the live shows. (Even the rocks know it, I know). There are two possibilities: either the first is overrated, or the second is terribly underrated.

Just a moment, let's clarify a bit. BBKing has been making music since the FIFTIES, if you know what I mean. And he was a reference point for Hendrix, Clapton, and so on. When Hendrix had yet to even see a guitar, BB was already one of the blues legends. And I don't think he carried brits with him. Don't judge a Historic Artist by their latest works. IT'S NOT FAIR!

  • chinaski033
    29 sep 11
Do you judge an artist based on who they are accompanied by?

  • pirata
    29 sep 11
Then BBKING is a BLUESMAN, and as such, he is not SNOB! A typical trait of true BLUESMEN is to play with anyone who wants to play with you, WITHOUT PREJUDICE. For example, he even played with Bruce Willis. He has played with everyone. Because the true bluesman doesn’t care about image.

Well, at least now Eric Clapton is no longer on the throne. How can one consider a white person the best blues artist?

  • pirata
    29 sep 11
Indeed, it seems a bit SNOB to belittle BBking because he played with Britti. It's something typical of those who listen to UNDERGROUND and are obsessed with the frame, but don't think about the picture.

Good job, pirate! Anyway, I went to see him 2 months ago and he wasn’t playing with Britti but with Joe Cocker! ;) And if we think that Clapton played with Pino Daniele, then anything can happen!

Well, I don't make rankings based on what people want to see in the charts, but I make them based on what I enjoy listening to the most. I don't think personal tastes can be debated...

Why do you think I consider BB King overrated, excuse me? I don’t judge BB King by those he associates with; I judge Britti based on who chooses him. Alright then.

    29 sep 11
To be honest, I need to reevaluate the last positions a bit. For now, I've only thought about the top ones and listed the others... I also need to elevate Hendrix! (as soon as I feel like it)

  • chinaski033
    29 sep 11
nes, however, cannot be compared... we need to see what’s behind it! I believe that bb doesn’t even know britti's name... (always in my opinion)

  • Felo
    29 sep 11
You should just flip the rankings and put Robert Johnson at the top.

  • chinaski033
    29 sep 11
    why do you say that?

  • nes
    29 sep 11
I have never compared them... what you think matters little, the fact that Britti knows how to do his job as a guitarist (not as a pop composer) is a fact.

  • chinaski033
    29 sep 11
It's a fact, you're right! Your opinion does matter.

I'm watching it now, but I certainly don't need your link to see Britti in action. As if the media have never shoved him down our throats on TV...

    29 sep 11
If for you what I linked is the same as "the tub" or "one in a million," you have serious hearing problems (and I'd add eyesight issues too).

    29 sep 11
Well, I've reached the halfway point of the video, and I would say I won't comment and won't finish watching it! Strumming the guitar like that, I think I could do it too. I believe, but surely he's better than me!

  • nes
    29 sep 11
"I think I can pluck the guitar that way too." It seemed to me that I had already told you that what you believe matters very little.

  • chinaski033
    29 sep 11
Exactly... while I'm very interested in the fact that you think Britti can play! In fact, I'm going out now to buy a Britti record because Nes told me to, what does he know! ;)

chinaski: you claim that I’m telling you to buy a Britti album when I haven’t even dreamed of downloading anything of his in mp3; you claim I'm wrong for comparing him to BB King when I never intended to compare them. Do you think I came to say that BB King is overrated when I argued that Britti as a guitarist (and just that) deserves reconsideration... I mean, sorry to point this out, but you understand nothing... so yes, in my opinion Britti knows how to play, in yours he doesn't. Not that I’m surprised given the understanding skills you’ve shown in these 10 comments. It’s easy to say BB King is a monster and to mention Robert Johnson, Jimi Hendrix, or Vaughn (everyone has adored them for decades). A bit more difficult is to abandon prejudices and listen (sometimes just hearing is enough, as in the previously linked example) to music.

  • chinaski033
    29 sep 11
But when the hell did I ever say that you think I should buy a Britti album? It was just a sarcastic joke of mine, but it seems I'm not the only idiot between the two of us! Anyway, you've really gotten on my nerves now, and you're not amusing me anymore...

If to contest me you say that I'm wrong to compare Britti and B.B. King when I've never done so, if you think that I judge B.B. King because he brought Britti along, I'm sorry to repeat myself, but you haven't understood a damn thing.

A courageous ranking. I respect it, as these are all people who have "contributed" greatly to the cause, but in my personal taste, and objectively from a "historical" perspective, I would have swapped a few positions. PS: I know other Irish people... Phil Lynott and Gary Moore, for example...

  • chinaski033

caravan, as I already said to pirata, it was a joke to hype him up. If you check my other rankings, moore is there because he is one of my favorites.

Anyway, let's agree that you didn’t compare BB and Britti, I’m not buying his CD just because you say so and for me, Britti is a joke at playing. Okay?

Have you ever seen the video of "the thrill is gone" by Moore with BB King? It's something unique! I recommend it to you...

    29 sep 11
Of course, my friend... I saw BB King live a few years ago, even though he was already old... whereas with Moore, even though he was much younger, I didn't make it in time, and that's a regret...

I saw Mr. King live 2 months ago when he was already 87 years old! If all nearly ninety-year-olds were like him... anyway, unfortunately now we will increasingly struggle to see certain people! I consider myself lucky if I can still see some of these legends.

Where did you see him, Chinaski? I also saw him recently in Perugia at the Umbria Jazz.

I was in Lucca, it was the first date... but was it also in Perugia with Joe Cocker?

Yes, we're running out of time with the sacred monsters of the past, we need to "catch" as many of these people as possible. I saw him in 2002 in Catania, and I couldn't wait, not only because he was already quite old, but also because it was said to be his last tour outside the States, can you believe it... instead, he's still going strong!

In November, I'm going to see Bob Dylan and Knopfler in Milan; there, I don't think there's any need to pray that they don't die before the date, because in comparison, they are quite young.

Not to cause a fuss, obviously, but there were people I know who in February '94 had university exams to prepare for on one side and the Nirvana concert in Rome on the other. They chose the exam, saying, "Well, we’re young, we'll catch the next tour when it comes around to us." Then in April of that same year, they had a different opinion... :D
