if you like raw, stark productions and assaulting music, you should also check out some pre-black-metal albums, like the early darkthrone, bathory, or mayhem :)

already done jdv, but that stuff isn't for me. Except for one of the early Emperor albums, the name of which I can't remember, and of course "Black Metal" by Venom... the rest leaves me pretty indifferent. Plus, I can't stand the scream at all.

You’re probably referring to In the Nightside Eclipse; anyway, I’m not crazy about black either, Emperor are one of the few exceptions… but it occurs to me that you might want to try "The Cult Is Alive" by Darkthrone, with which they started their death n roll shift (https://www.debaser.it/main/Video.aspx?y=D6Ehe8F7sEE).

I'm not familiar with the genre, it's not my cup of tea, but given the type of bands in the rankings, I was wondering why the MC5 were missing—are there any bands more militant than them? :)

It's underway, dear Stone...done! Even though, when it comes to Motorcity, I've always preferred the Asheton brothers by far (not surprisingly, they rank 3rd).

Yes, I love the MC5 but I also prefer the Stooges, more psychedelic! :)

GGGGGRANDIOSO GEB! Beautiful ranking, but I often find it hard to choose a particular record, especially when you mention the Clash, Ramones, Dead Kennedys. I mean, if I had to recommend an album to someone who doesn’t know them, I’d say: "Get a liev and you can’t go wrong." Do you like Splodgenessabounds?
