The Profile

Radio Birdman is an Australian punk/garage group formed in Sydney in 1974 by guitarist Deniz Tek and vocalist Rob Younger. After the 1976 EP Burn My Eye, they released the seminal album Radios Appear (1977) and the follow-up Living Eyes. The band later reunited, issuing Zeno Beach in 2006.

Influenced by the Stooges and MC5; classic lineup included Deniz Tek, Rob Younger, Chris Masuak, Warwick Gilbert, Ron Keely, and Pip Hoyle. Inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame in 2007.

Four DeBaser reviews hail Radio Birdman’s high-voltage legacy from Sydney’s 1974 genesis to their roaring 2006 return. Burn My Eye and the landmark Radios Appear define their Detroit-charged attack; Living Eyes refines it with cleaner edges. Reviewers single out Descent Into The Maelstrom, I-94, and Smith And Wesson Blues, praising Rob Younger’s voice, Deniz Tek’s riffs, and those unmistakable keyboards. Zeno Beach proves the spark never went out.
