Formed by guitarist Greg Ginn in the late 1970s in the Los Angeles/Hermosa Beach area. Greg Ginn founded SST Records. Henry Rollins was the band's lead vocalist during the key 1981–1986 period. The band is widely cited as a major influence on hardcore punk and on later grunge/sludge acts.
