In the 80s, I discovered a plethora of bands through MTV. A local network was illegally rebroadcasting it, and I would wait for hours to see a video, notepad in hand to jot down the artist's name. It's sad to see that TV, which used to be associated with rebellion and musical freedom, transformed into the most skillful standard-bearer of mass conformity. You flip through MTV and what do you see? Rappers and bimbos shoving it in your face, and the peak "musical" moment is when a U2 video comes on. Go fuck yourselves! more
