Well, what can I say? Tool is my favorite band. They are legendary; they've done things that no one else has achieved in terms of creativity, combining sounds, voices, guitars, and especially drums perfectly!!! In my opinion, the latest album is a mystical album, different from the previous ones "Aenima" and the masterpiece "Lateralus." I really expected more, like another masterpiece, Last Lateralus, given this band's talents and abilities. However, after listening to and re-listening to this record, I must say they did well to change their style a bit; it's an excellent album, different from the others, and I don't think fans will be disappointed because if it had been the same as the previous albums, I would have given a bad review. It doesn't please a Tool fan to listen to stuff that's already been done because of their potential and creativity; no one or almost no one likes to hear the same music over and over again! If you like listening to the same music, then listen to bands that have always made the same music without ever changing anything; I won't name names, or I'll be criticized.
Anyway, back to these 10,000 Days, the cover, as usual, is beautiful; it's worth those 20€ given to my trusted dealer, "Cover with paranormal glasses." Let's start listening to the album, which is meant to be listened to from start to finish. The first track, Vicarious, which is also this album's first single, is the opening track and undoubtedly the most fitting piece to start with, knowing that the songs become increasingly mystical as they progress. As usual, in this first piece, the drums are excellent, and Maynard's voice varies with the notes to amaze the listener and will continue to do so for the rest of the album.
The second track, Jambi, remains an excellent piece with added riffs by Adam Jones, which are also accepted normatively. The third track, Wings for Marie Part 1, is a track that foreshadows the sequel, Wings for Marie Part 2 - 10,000 Days; this sequel is beautifully executed, one of the album's highlights, in my opinion, with added thunder and Maynard's voice that gives you goosebumps. Then comes The Pot, which is perhaps the most Tool-like song on this record. You can perceive Adam Jones' guitars and Danny Carey's drums almost in the old Tool style, and Maynard's voice deals the final blow to this splendid song. Lipan Conjuring, a classic Tool piece between one song and another. Lost Keys, a very strange instrumental track.
Rosetta Stoned, here's another fantastic piece of this album, fantastic from start to finish, especially in my opinion at the end.
Intension, a beautiful tranquil song that lets you navigate with your mind, here's another song from the album to listen to again to fully grasp it.
Right in Two, this is also an excellent piece that captivates you from start to finish. Viginti Tres, to finish in the best possible way, a flood of sounds and oddities that only TOOL can pull off. Wow! Well, what can I say? An album to savor and listen to billions and billions of times from start to finish. Final verdict: an album not as perfect as Lateralus, but an excellent charismatic album by the legendary TOOL!!!
BUY IT!!! DAMN IT!!! AND IF YOU DON'T HAVE THE PREVIOUS ALBUMS, BUY THOSE TOO, DAMN IT, IT'S TIME TO CHANGE YOUR MUSIC!!!
The eleven tracks of 10,000 Days... represent the most vital and dynamic rock music one can find today.
The only criticism one might level at Tool is perhaps an excessive awareness of their own abilities.
The artwork is something amazing, meticulously crafted with holographic 3D images... AMAZING!
This will be an album that will certainly provoke extensive discussion but we need bands like them!
The rhythm proceeds regular and aseptic, regular even in irregularity. An artificial heart, not a spasm, not a jolt, not a leap into the void.
The album flows without any meaning, leaving only the froth at the mouth of those who were waiting for something juicy.
It is certainly one of the best albums of the last 5 years.
Pink Floyd are one thing, Tool are another.
"'10,000 Days' belongs to a rare category of albums whose mystery invites endless listening and reverence."
"Maynard shines as a chameleon of modern rock, constantly changing guises and leading listeners through the album's complex corridors."
