"Viaggio senza Vento" undoubtedly represents the pinnacle of the career of the Brescians Timoria (Diego Galeri on drums, Enrico Ghedi on keyboards, Illorca on bass, Omar Pedrini on guitars and occasionally vocals, Francesco Renga on vocals).
Released in 1993, this album is a concept album about growing up (a literary example, Salinger's The Catcher in the Rye) that tells the story of Joe (a tribute to Hendrix and his Hey Joe, Pedrini's favorite song), a remorseful drug addict who, through adventures and encounters, will become a "warrior" capable of facing life and its difficulties. But let's move on to the tracks:
- "Senza Vento": Introduction to the story, it is one of the masterpieces of the album and of Timoria, it talks about the hopes and dreams of the generation of teenagers straddling the late '80s and early '90s, in which many young people identified with. Musically a very powerful hard rock
- "Joe": A track in which the protagonist and his family situation are introduced ("Joe, I know, you don't have, who waits for you at home")
- "Sangue Impazzito": Another masterpiece of the album. A painful and melancholic ballad that grows into a powerful rock track with a stunning guitar solo. Joe revisits the places he knows, walking through his childhood and wondering why he abandoned them for a dark tunnel.
- "Lasciami in Down": Fun hard-funk with keyboards at the forefront. Joe is arrested along with other drug addicts...
- "Il Guardiano di Cani": ...and taken to a detox center. Instead of finding help and understanding, he is only humiliated and forced to obey his masters like a dog. All this is expressed very energetically in one of the hardest tracks of the album.
- "La Cura Giusta": Another wonderful ballad, featuring an excellent flute solo. The treatment Joe undergoes is called "the right cure to never heal." In both this track and the previous one, Timoria are very critical of the way drug addicts are treated in these centers in reality.
- "La Fuga": Another powerful hard rock track. Joe finds a gun with 3 golden bullets, with which he kills his guardian and regains his freedom. He knows, however, that now he must flee far away and go...
- "Verso Oriente": A very particular track sung by Pedrini along with Finardi, enhanced by Candelo Cabezas' percussion (Litfiba), with vague Middle Eastern sounds. With this track, Joe's journey begins.
- "Lombardia": The first step in Joe's journey is leaving his beloved homeland. Sounds this time almost folkloric thanks to the violin of Mauro Pagani
- "Campo dei Fiori Jazz Band": One of the few unnecessary tracks of the album, 0.56 sec of jazz-like sounds.
- "Freedom": A beautiful track with just piano and vocals where Francesco Renga's stunning soul voice stands out.
- "Il Mercante di Sogni": Joe meets a seer through whom he will understand his visions and dreams. With these new certainties, Joe continues his journey, arriving in the...
- "La Città del Sole": Melodic and sunny rock that almost makes us imagine this city, symbol of the utopia of perfection, where Joe arrives after crossing a bridge and in which he can find himself again.
- "La Città della Guerra": A dark instrumental track dominated by a leaden bass and distorted guitar, over which Renga's vocalizations are grafted.
- "Piove": Another melodic rock track, with a magical and immediate refrain. The journey is almost over, in fact, Joe has succeeded in washing away his past (symbolized by the rain that wets him).
- "Il Sogno": Joe's inner journey continues. Here too, the very melodic and almost angelic refrain is the strength of the track.
- "Come Serpenti in Amore": Joe manages to comprehend and choose between the contrasting dualities that dominate the world, represented in a bold metaphor as "two snakes in love" intertwining and remaining indissoluble even though distinct.
- "Frankenstein": Funk-rock with a hypnotic guitar riff, in which Joe promises to live his life "with the juice of Frankenstein." Honestly, I didn't understand what he's referring to...
- "La Città di Eva": The last thing Joe needs to become the "warrior" is love, which he finally finds in a beautiful woman, also in search of love. A refined and epic track thanks to many choirs. Beautiful ending of the lyrics: "Where are you going, where are you going... man of the world? I'm looking for who is worthy of me"
- "Freiheit": Joe's inner journey is over, the only thing he now wants is to take the way back home.
- "Il Guerriero": The text speaks for itself: "The warrior is alive and has returned/with a proud look and bright eyes/has returned shouting to the wind/his song for the people/beyond fear beyond loneliness." Joe can return to fighting as a warrior and fly even without wind, with his own wings.

03 Sangue impazzito (04:37)

"I believe I am not exaggerating when I say it could be one of the best Italian works of the '90s."
"The Brescians, led by Omar Pedrini, came from a recent past filled with '80s-style romantic music; this album finds them grown and mature."

They know that if they don’t make it big now, things are unlikely to improve in the future.
Viaggio senza vento is steeped in literature, philosophy, and spirituality.
